Seeds of Doubt

Edward stared at Sasori.

Why was he here? Why had the attacker insisted on running this way?

"Is something wrong?"

Sasori snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Edward in confusion.

"Nothing." Edward shook his head and looked around. The area was wide open, but the mist had covered far too much ground just now.

There was no way to tell where the other person had run off to.

"So what exactly happened to you two?"

Sasori asked directly.

"Someone attacked me," Edward said.

Looking at Sasori before him, he wanted to find even the slightest sign that something was off.

But Sasori's face was as cold as ice, utterly unreadable.

He hated poker faces.

Edward grumbled inwardly.

He was now putting that as the second thing he hated most.

The first was, without question, people calling him short!!

"So you suspect me?" Sasori turned his face slightly toward Edward.

That look alone had already said plenty.

Edward fell silent. His suspicion toward Sasori had indeed risen considerably.

"I hope you find the truth."

Sasori shrugged. He did not care about such things anyway.

Watching Sasori's indifferent reaction, Edward quietly let out a breath of relief.

He did not really understand why he had been so tense, as though he were afraid Sasori might truly be the culprit.

He scratched his head.

The person in front of him should just be an ordinary person. What was he worrying about?

"You're going to the site of the attack, right? I'll come take a look with you."

Sasori spoke up.

Edward nodded.

What they needed most now was to search for clues.

Sasori passed the two of them and walked to the door, looking outside. The surroundings were open, and anyone trying to hide should have been easy to spot.
