Within the Black Church

Claude stood in a magnificent office, looking at the man behind the desk.

Malcolm C. Leverrier.

The current highest-ranking official of the Black Church's Central Hall.

"I don't recall summoning you." Malcolm clasped his hands before his mouth as he looked at Claude.

In the past, there had been no question of summons. To a certain extent, the Black Church's Marshal had held even more authority than he did.

It was simply that their focus had been on demons.

Now, Claude was merely an ordinary exorcist, and her status was naturally no longer so exalted.

"I wanted to see you." Claude sat directly on the nearby sofa and crossed her legs.

Malcolm frowned at her posture.

"You are no longer a Marshal. Put away your former arrogance."

When she had been a Marshal, she could naturally do whatever she wanted.

But times had changed.

"I am well aware." Claude spoke softly.

"I came here to make a deal with you."

Malcolm fell silent in thought for a moment. He knew what deal Claude wanted to make.

"You won't die. Whether you make this deal or not is irrelevant."

"And this is something that cannot be avoided."

The reason was the Dark Power within Claude. That power had allowed her to escape conviction.

But that did not mean there would be no consequences at all.

No one had brought it up during the trial because it was not something that could be discussed openly.

What they intended to do was study the power within Claude.

After arriving at headquarters, Claude would become a test subject for a period of time, until everyone had thoroughly studied the power within her.

As for how far they would go, that was another matter entirely.

The Black Church's laboratories were the
