Confrontation

The plane soon reached its destination.

Since there was no airport nearby, Mei landed the plane directly on a relatively flat dirt road in Peru. Fortunately, the Helicarrier's performance was good enough that it did not demand much from its takeoff and landing runways.

After the plane landed, Coulson and the others drove two cars, led by the other party, toward Yactapat, the Inca archaeological excavation site.

Once they arrived at the destination, everyone got out of the cars.

The moment he stepped out, Grant Ward said, "There are tire tracks forty meters back. I'll check whether they belong to vehicles from here."

"Make sure no one else has gotten involved."

Mei looked around and said, "This place is too exposed. I'll find somewhere quiet to park."

Then she restarted their vehicle. She was going to park somewhere else.

Fitz and Simmons, who had gotten out of the car, did not share their vigilance. Instead, they were more like tourists, wanting to see the wild capuchin monkeys here in Peru. After all, Peru had no shortage of monkeys.

The two chatted and laughed as they arrived at the archaeological excavation site, before a massive Inca Temple.

Skye followed beside Coulson and said, "We should warn the nearby residents. They already have to deal with anti-mining rebels and Peruvian guerrilla savages."

"I can put something out."

As Coulson walked, he said, "Remember the panic caused when that antimatter meteor fell off the coast of Miami and nearly destroyed the whole city?"

Skye asked in confusion, "No?"

Coulson looked at Skye. "Exactly. Because we locked down the news and controlled the situation."

Skye asked, puzzled, "Then what am I here for?"

Coulson said, "If word gets out, I may need you to shift the public's attention."

"Get everyone focused on something else."
