A crimson door stood in the darkness, soft, bright light bleeding from the gap and reflecting in Wang Gulas's pupils.
He let out a soft breath.
Honestly, though there was no danger to him, remaining in such a strange, dark setting for so long still felt rather unfamiliar. It was probably some instinct ingrained in living beings, with little to do with one's strength.
Wang Gulas walked over and gently knocked on the door.
Although the castle's master had long known that he had arrived, knocking was still necessary. It was etiquette a guest ought to observe.
"Come in."
A pleasant young woman's voice came from within, and Wang Gulas pushed open the door.
The enticing scent of food rushed over him, making the stomach of the still-unfed Wang Gulas protest. The room's interior also unfolded before his eyes.
It was a very spacious room.
High-quality Origin Crystals hung from the ceiling and surrounding walls, radiating a steady, soft, brilliant glow. Noble and elegant ornaments adorned the area, while grand paintings reminiscent of war covered the walls. At the head of those armies stood a girl with gleaming golden hair, clad in silver-white knight's armor, raising her sharp sword as she charged forth first.
Or she was bathed in the blood of her enemies, purging the corrupt upper ranks of the empire, holy light upon her as she hunted some unknown evil existence...
Or she held a longsword and knelt helplessly on one knee, her armor already covered in the scars of blades, her beautiful golden hair stained red with blood...
The successive paintings depicted the girl's magnificent, turbulent life. Yet the final painting was obscured by a black curtain. Perhaps a breeze had lifted one corner, revealing a hellish scene formed from countless corpses.
