Elizabeth's words were too shocking, so much so that after her voice fell silent, no one responded for a long while.
The origin of magic.
There had always been many answers circulating for this question.
Some believed the gods had bestowed magic upon the creatures of the continent, allowing them to wield this extraordinary power. Others believed Magic Beasts were born with the power of magic, which other intelligent races had discovered and learned from. Still others thought it was an innate talent possessed by all living beings...
But now, Elizabeth had offered a new answer.
The origin of magic was, in fact, the terrifying entity before them, whose size could not be measured.
And after hearing this, Wang Gulas and the others' first reaction was not to refute her, but to feel that she made a great deal of sense.
"The earliest Magic Runes..." Mysterious patterns that seemed to have existed since time immemorial reflected in Wang Gulas's eyes from the tentacles. He suddenly gave a bitter laugh. "If this news got out, who knew how many scholars studying this field would be dumbfounded? They would never have imagined that the things they had researched their entire lives were all wrong."
"Humans were always blindly confident." Elizabeth sneered. "What foolish creatures."
Wang Gulas really wanted to say, "You used to be human too," but considering Elizabeth's personality, saying it would bring him no benefit and might even earn her grudge. So he only thought it to himself.
"We should have reached the core area already, right?" Giant Axe suddenly asked.
"The core? Heh." Elizabeth raised her head to look at the root that disappeared into the rock wall. "Honestly, based on what I saw just now, I seriously doubted whether this thing even had the concept of a core."
