The Chaos entities witnessed firsthand the sorry state of a Supreme Deity. The invincible God of War was being brutally beaten by the Lord of Hell, his entire divine body sent flying.
It was an utterly miserable sight.
His roars and cries of pain passed through the Veil in the depths of The Void, exploding beside the ears of every Blood God follower and even other Chaos entities.

A Chaos Lord collapsed weakly onto his thorned throne, watching helplessly as his god was ravaged by the Lord of Hell.
He was filled with sorrow and fear.

This Chaos Lord realized that, with the Blood God's fall, they no longer represented war itself and could no longer continue their rampage.
Even if they continued slaughtering, they would no longer gain much fel energy born from killing.
The Authority of Slaughter that represented war would be ruthlessly seized by the Lord of Hell, and new faith concerning war would gather around Him as well.
