"Good thing we got here in time." Ron let out a sigh of relief when he saw the points of light representing stars.
The stars here had not yet been devoured.
According to the Tyranid Research Institute's assessment, the Tyranid Swarms under the Great Devourer were more brutal and greedy than the scouting swarms within the Galaxy. They could even swallow stars.
The dark regions on the star map were spiral-arm star systems that had already been devoured. Almost no energy or light remained there, let alone the nutrients contained within the planets themselves.
Perhaps the Great Devourer's swarms possessed some special Bio-ships capable of extracting a star's energy as nourishment before consuming it entirely.
Such a level of resource utilization was terrifying, and it would also bring profound disaster upon local Civilized Worlds.
The disappearance of stars was itself a devastating blow to life. Endless cold and darkness would render nearby planets uninhabitable.
Even if they wanted to resist, they would not be able to hold out for long.
Thus, the Tyranid Research Institute predicted that when the Great Devourer's Vanguard Bio-tendrils or swarms attempted to consume a region, they would first attack the local stars.
That would create Scourge-level cold waves and darkness, striking at the nearby Civilized Worlds.
In other words, if the local civilization could not even defend its stars, its extinction would only be a matter of time. In the end, they would all become food for the Great Devourer and be utterly annihilated.
"As long as the stars still exist, it means the Human Federation is still resisting. There is still a chance to save them—"
Ron closed the electronic tablet, in a fairly good mood. He did not want to travel all this way only to find a barren expanse of space.
