Terrifying Destructive Power

Carter gripped the hilt with both hands and planted the chainsword in the ground.

He closed his eyes and devoted himself fully to prayer:

"Great God-Emperor, grant me strength, that I may be fearless in battle!

I am willing to give everything and fight to the very end!

In the name of judgment, I shall wield the sword in my hand and sweep away all heretical evil!"

Carter suddenly opened his eyes, his expression resolute.

He twisted the hilt with both hands and opened the force-field valve of this special Power Weapon.

Bzz!

In an instant, the chainsword lit up, a blue energy field covering its teeth.

Tiny bolts of lightning flowed between the teeth. Then the current grew thicker, and the force field's energy overflowed onto the armor covering Carter's arms.

The energy currents battered the armor on Carter's arms, scorching it black with corrosion as searing pain shot through both his hands.

"Argh—"

In the distance, the Heretic Head embedded in the Humanoid Aberration's chest saw this as well.

The residual waves emanating from the energy field instinctively made him sense danger, and immense Fear surged into his heart.

He was afraid.

The energy radiating from that weapon was too terrifying, more than enough to pose a fatal threat to him!

"That damned bastard! How can he control such terrifying energy?!"

He could not let that bastard raise that weapon.

Otherwise, he was finished!

The Heretic Head controlled the Humanoid Aberration and charged toward Carter, only to be tripped by steel cables.

The cables had been fired by the Custodians. Those troublesome Custodians were blocking him!

The Custodians pulled out specialized launchers, their tubes loaded with harpoons covered in barbs.

They aimed at the Humanoid Aberration and fired.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Several harpoons sank into the Humanoid Aberration's flesh. The internal barbs sprang out and hooked firmly into the meat, making them nearly impossible to pull free.

"Get out of my way! I order you to get out of my way!

You damned insects!"

Ignoring the pain, the Heretic Head desperately controlled the Humanoid Aberration, trying to rush toward Carter.

He had to kill the person capable of threatening him as quickly as possible.

Yet he was held fast.

Every Barbed Harpoon was connected to a steel cable, the other ends gripped tightly in the hands of the Custodian Warriors.

The Custodians shifted their positions, wrapping the cables around the Humanoid Aberration before pulling back with all their strength to keep it from interfering with Carter.

This was the Praetorian Guard's prearranged tactic, designed specifically for highly dangerous enemies.

First restrict their mobility, then destroy them with overwhelming firepower!

The Heretic Head began to panic, controlling the Humanoid Aberration as it struggled violently.

He was running out of time!

Yet he remained firmly restrained.

"Hold tight, brothers! Don't let this heretical bastard interfere with the captain!"

A Custodian shouted.

For a moment, the two sides were locked in a stalemate.

The problem was that the balance between them was about to break.

The Humanoid Aberration was far stronger than the Custodians.

The Custodians gradually ran out of strength and could no longer restrain it.

Fortunately, Carter was ready.

Enduring the agonizing pain caused by the energy field's corrosion, he raised the chainsword wreathed in electrical currents high above his head.

He activated the engine valve. As the chainsaw spun violently, the current grew thicker, and faint leaking currents flowed across his armor.

This was true power!

At that moment, nearly everyone's gaze focused on Carter.

The electricity coursing over Carter's body made him especially conspicuous amid the firelit Shanty District.

It even carried a trace of holiness.

The Defense Force and Arbites prayed, praising their mightiest warrior.

The panicked civilians, upon seeing this, dropped to their knees.

"God-Emperor!

The rumors were true! Governor Carter really has received the God-Emperor's blessing!

He sent us a holy War Angel..."

The people prayed that this War Angel sent by the Governor from the Court District would drive away that terrifying Daemon.

That he would save humble mortals like them from their suffering!

Carter knew nothing of any of this.

All his attention was fixed on the Humanoid Aberration in the distance.

Carter gripped the chainsword and charged toward it!

As he ran, the Jet Propulsion Unit on the back of his armor operated at full power, blasting blue flames and providing additional thrust.

He grew faster and faster!

At that moment, Carter had only one thought.

He was not a useless man.

He would use this chainsword to cut off that heretical bastard's head and prove his capability and Loyalty to the Governor!

The Heretic Head saw Carter rushing toward him.

He also saw the chainsword Carter held high, crackling with energy currents.

He could not let that sword touch him!

He controlled the Aberration and desperately tore free of its restraints, ripping the Barbed Harpoons from its body and throwing off those troublesome Custodians!

He had finally broken free!

The Heretic Head thought excitedly that he could run now.

With his speed, that bastard would never catch him!

"Just you wait!"

After leaving behind that threat, he turned to flee.

But the roar of the chainsword reached him, and a dark shadow engulfed him.

The Heretic Head and the Aberration looked up to see Carter leaping through the air, holding a blue chainsword!

Fear completely filled his face.

It's over!

Bzzzzzz!

Amid the deafening buzz, the chainsword cut into the Humanoid Aberration's body.

The sharp chainsaw frantically shredded flesh, while the leaking energy currents unleashed terrifying destructive power, completely destroying its internal tissue and preventing it from ever recovering.

The chainsword slashed in diagonally from the Humanoid Aberration's shoulder, cutting it in two.

Thud!

The Humanoid Aberration lost all ability to move. Its two halves slid backward and crashed to the ground with a dull thud.

"Ah!"

The Heretic Head in the Humanoid Aberration's chest screamed. His eyes widened as he desperately tried to regain control of the body and escape.

"Damn it, move! Move already!"

But it was useless. Nothing happened.

The flesh and tissue of this aberrant body had been completely destroyed by the energy field. It was already "dead."

Whoosh!

As the Humanoid Aberration fell, the chainsword's engine and energy field instantly shut down.

The buzzing ceased, the energy currents vanished at once, and Carter's armor was blackened all over, emitting dark smoke.

Carter planted the chainsword in the ground and barely kept his balance. He was almost too weak to stand!

That had been close!

He had nearly failed the attack.

He cast aside the chainsword and walked over to the fallen Humanoid Aberration's body.

"Move! Hurry and move! Lord of Ten Thousand Eyes, save your follower!

I offered you so many delicious pregnant women and infants as sacrifices!"

The Heretic Head was filled with Fear, chattering endlessly as he continued trying to make the body move.

But a shadow fell over him again.

He looked up and saw Carter staring down at him.

"You damned insect... urgh..."

Before he could finish, a large hand viciously clamped around his throat!

"Shut up!"
