Ever since the Imperial tax ship had left in an emergency, Phanes had received no more news from Holy Terra, and had lost contact with the outside world entirely.

Zabok raised his head. Through the transparent dome, he could see one enormous scar after another in the airspace, some of them even forming whirlpools.
Not long after the Imperial tax ship departed, the once-peaceful sky split open, and even the stars had their light obscured.
Many people died in that chaos, and it also cut off communication between the star system and the outside world. After that, there were more xenos and heretics on Phanes.
In particular, the cultists who appeared from time to time, and the Daemons that came from the Warp, had killed many subjects of the Imperium.
"We have too many enemies. They are corroding the land of Phanes and destroying the sacred territory of the Imperium."

"The situation before us is only a temporary setback. The Imperium will one day destroy all its enemies. We humans are the finest race in the Galaxy!"
