Those Pilgrims shuddered instinctively, murmured prayers for The Emperor's protection, then lowered their heads and distanced themselves from Dorn, afraid of being implicated.
They had been to many ports and knew the local guards were not to be trifled with. Even if they beat a Void-born or an Abhuman on a Pilgrim Ship to death, no one would care.
The rifle butt striking Dorn's body did not even count as a tickle, but he was still somewhat angry.
He was angry not because someone had disrespected him, but because of the darkness of the Imperium.
Originally, he had thought that under The Savior's leadership, the Imperium would have changed somewhat, especially aboard this ship that belonged to The Savior.
But from the guard's attitude, he could tell what kind of treatment the subjects of the Imperium usually received.
More importantly, this was a Pilgrim Ship, and everyone aboard was a believer in The Emperor, yet the guard was still so brutal.
It was clear that many of those who wielded force had lost their reverence for The Emperor, or at least did not truly revere him.
That went against The Emperor's original intention in founding the Imperium, and it also exposed The Savior's attitude toward The Emperor—
