That fury came from the Dark Emperor. He seemed to have received new intelligence.

Magnus's eyes flickered with crimson flame, and he could not help asking, worried that this change involved the False Emperor upon the Throne.

He knew full well what crimes he had committed. Once the False Emperor escaped his predicament, he would never forgive him.
