"They're all gone. They all died in the War of the Great Dao. We've been waiting for our Ancestor Master to live into a new life—nearly a billion years now, I suppose! All the Dao Ancestors have fallen, so our Treading Heaven Sect chose to withdraw from the world. At first, we still had many Daluo Golden Immortals. Now, I'm the only one left."
Shen Lei sighed.

"The Immortal-Chaos War? The War of the Great Dao? What's the difference between the two?"

"The Immortal-Chaos War was a great battle between Immortals and Chaos Beasts on the Chaos Continent. Even if we lost, at worst, the Immortals would find themselves in a more difficult situation. The War of the Great Dao, however, affected the entire Immortal Realm. If the Immortals lost, many living beings in the Immortal Realm would be slaughtered by the Chaos Beasts, and history would develop a blank period.
