Background / History

Dhirim was established when Shen Mu used the Mount & Blade Rules to transform his Swadian Stronghold into a village. He chose its name in reference to the strategically important, resource-rich Swadian town from Mount & Blade: Warband; the System identifies it as the first Mount & Blade Rules village founded in another world 56.

The original village was centered on agriculture and basic self-sufficiency. It possessed thirty civilian houses, a granary, mill, wall, livestock facilities, wheat and vegetable fields, and special sites for robbers and Lake Rats. Its initial garrison included Swadian troops, mercenaries, and Lake Rats 56.

After obtaining the Jelbegi terrain-type rule and control of 500 mu of surrounding land, Shen Mu upgraded Dhirim into a livelihood-oriented Swadian Town. A Swadian-style Noble Residence became its core, while the settlement received a larger garrison and access to further development 95.

Dhirim's growing wealth quickly attracted hostile forces. The Diesel Company launched its first assault by using vassal troops to fill the moat and scale the walls, but Dhirim's archers, crossbowmen, and ballista defenses repelled the attack 106. It later survived a multi-sided assault involving the Skeleton Legion, the Green Leaf Group, and Wood Elf forces, despite internal sabotage and fires in the Town Area 284 304 305.

Following the defeat of the Green Leaf Group, Shen Mu ordered the construction of an Elfwood Outpost within Dhirim's territory and placed captured enemies under strict control for intelligence and political purposes 381 383. The settlement subsequently underwent major reconstruction, resettlement, and industrial expansion 405 481.

Population & Administration

  • Dhirim had more than 5,000 residents by the time of its early town development, alongside an estimated 20,000–30,000 Blue Star Humans within its territory 179.
  • Its population later reached approximately 30,000–40,000 Blue Star Humans, supported by over 5,000 of Shen Mu's direct Human Race troops 304.
  • Earth immigrants are resettled in planned collective dwellings in the Outer Cities; each three-story stone-and-wood building can accommodate fifty adults 480.
  • Shen Mu — Lord and ultimate authority over Dhirim 56 480.
  • Manid — Steward and principal administrator; oversees construction, logistics, planning, and resettlement 220 405 481.
  • Fatis — Senior military commander responsible for patrols, military readiness, and city defense 405 480.
  • Lezalit — Commander associated with training, fortifications, and urban defense 284 482.
  • Sun Zhiru — Granted authority over Earth colonist internal affairs, subject to Shen Mu's orders 481.

Districts & Infrastructure

Outer Cities

  • The East and West Outer Cities were built to accommodate resettled Earth immigrants 234 480.
  • Their principal residences are dense three-story stone-and-wood collective dwellings with public ground floors, workshops, shops, wells, public toilets, firebreaks, and small community squares 480.
  • Workshops include blacksmithing, baking, tailoring, and general trade; residents increasingly work in these facilities or operate small businesses 480.
  • Construction relies on Calradian professionals and Blue Star Human laborers under Manid's supervision 405.

Inner City

  • The Inner City is a guarded, militarized core separated from the Outer Cities by a second wall and strict gate controls 480.
  • It contains troop-specific military camps, barracks, logistics facilities, a concentrated commercial street, and higher-grade weapon, armor, tack, and repair shops 480.
  • Its northeast metallurgy district operates furnaces that manufacture weapons, armor plates, crossbow components, tools, and other military materials 480.
  • The Lord's Noble Residence, expanded from the original castle, serves as the city’s political and command center 95 480.

Farmland

  • Dhirim began with 22 mu of wheat, 5 mu of cabbage, and 5 mu of pumpkin fields, alongside cattle, pigs, and chickens 56.
  • By Shen Mu's later return, tens of thousands of acres of farmland surrounded the city, including wheat fields, vegetable plots, and newly tilled land 480.

Defenses

  • Dhirim’s early town walls stood approximately six meters high and were supported by towers, arrow towers, ballistae, and a moat 95 106 219.
  • The original castle was a self-contained stone fortification with a main building, prison, stable, gatehouse, watchtowers, square towers, and independent wall access from the town 95.
  • During the first Diesel Company siege, defenders relocated light and siege ballistae to the threatened western gate and resupplied archers and crossbowmen with ammunition 106.
  • Later defenses included Swadian soldiers, Sacred Tree troops, Steppe Bandits, Khergit Horse Archers, and specialized ranged forces 282 320.
  • The completed city wall is approximately twenty-five meters high, built from polished grey-blue stone and reinforced with runes. Dense arrow towers, bastions, and ballista positions cover key approaches 480.
  • A broad, deep river-fed moat and a massive drawbridge protect the castle district 482.
  • The city’s emblem is a broken sword thrust through burning thorns, representing unyielding will and rebirth from ashes 482.

City Breaker

A heavy ballista defense installed in Dhirim’s castle district.

  • Used to intercept a destructive beam fired from the Miasma Swamp 483.
  • Its collision with the incoming attack caused a major explosion and damaged Dhirim’s east wall 483.

Eye of Judgment

A powerful siege crossbow positioned in the castle district.

  • Designed to penetrate spiritual entities and energy shields 482.
  • Its name is also used for the destructive beam fired against Dhirim from the Miasma Swamp 483.

Power of Faith

Dhirim serves as a major source of Power of Faith for Shen Mu. Blue Star Humans were organized to pray in open areas, converting mental energy into faith that could be absorbed through Shen Mu's systems 179.

The Dragon Banner Fragment absorbed 54,711 points of Power of Faith over several days while Shen Mu was away from the settlement 179. As Dhirim stabilized and prospered, the dependence, gratitude, and awe of its inhabitants continued to nourish Shen Mu and help resist divine backlash 481.

During the events surrounding world unification, divine radiance caused Dhirim's runes to flow and the walls to slowly expand outward; its surrounding land and inhabitants also underwent adaptation under combined divine and Crystal Wall System energies 486.
