Sea-Listening Pavilion on Wavewatch Island, Tuo Dragon the Hybrid and the Nine-Tailed Fox
Beyond the Vermilion Flame Sea, where one pressed into the void.
A small island hung silently at the boundary between reality and illusion. On one side lay a vast, boundless sea; on the other, surging spatial torrents that scoured all before them.
This was Wavewatch Island, one of the Ten Islands of the Jiuzhou World.
Though the Nine Provinces were indeed the heart of the Jiuzhou World, the Jiuzhou World did not consist solely of the Nine Provinces. There were also seas in every direction, countless archipelagos scattered across them, and the Ten Overseas Islands—distant beyond the seas, seeming both near and far.
Wavewatch Island was not large, spanning no more than ten thousand li, yet its place among the Ten Islands was enough to prove its extraordinary nature.
Jiang Sheng followed Lingluo and Many-Treasure to Wavewatch Island. Looking at this small island, his expression remained calm, revealing none of his thoughts.
Many-Treasure smiled. "Ling Yuan, though a sparrow is small, it has all five organs. Do not think Wavewatch Island insignificant merely because it is small. Sometimes, a mustard seed can contain Mount Sumeru."
Jiang Sheng glanced at Many-Treasure. "Since when were you so familiar with Buddhist allusions?"
Many-Treasure looked as though it were only natural. "After wandering through the heavens all these years, if I were still utterly ignorant, what wandering would I have to speak of?"
Lingluo added, "Daoist Ling Yuan, there is a saying in the Jiuzhou World: the Nine Provinces and Ten Islands. Among the Ten Islands, Wavewatch Island is also the most unique."
Jiang Sheng appeared intrigued. "Oh? The most unique?"
"Please explain, Princess."
Lingluo looked toward Wavewatch Island before her and softly recited, "Ink washes joined the sky, lotuses birthed from water; butterflies danced through idle space, rosy clouds transformed into butterflies."
