I Ignite My True Self with Heartfire, Pierce the Heart Tribulation, and Pass the Second Trial

At the summit of the Ice Mountain Soul Domain, atop the Bright Moon Cold Star Flowing-Radiance Cloud Bed carved from cold jade, Jiang Sheng—his entire body charred black and withered, his breath as faint as a gossamer thread—slowly recited two lines.

By then, Jiang Sheng had been scorched by blazing flames for several years. Not only had his nearly ten thousand years of lifespan been burned away completely, but even the raging fire burning over his body had dwindled to only a few tiny flickers. Once those sparks scattered, once the heartfire went out, Jiang Sheng's last trace of vitality would naturally vanish with them.

Yet amid those few tiny flickers, within that fleshly shell burned to charcoal that might collapse with the slightest movement, among the five viscera and six bowels scorched to ash, a current of azure wood qi lingered long and unceasing, while a thread of Red Fire breath burned hot and brilliantly.

When the final thread of lifespan was consumed entirely by the heartfire, when the burning flames finally extinguished and dispersed—

Within Jiang Sheng's charcoal-like shell, azure wood qi circulated and coiled, transforming into an endless supply of kindling to sustain that thread of Red Fire.

Though his lifespan had run out, his heartfire remained unextinguished. Thus, there was no end of life.

Once lifespan had been burned away, longevity itself became an empty illusion.

As the heartfire burned, accompanied by a soundless tremor, it seemed that a mass of Red Fire spread forth and reshaped Jiang Sheng's heart; it seemed that a current of wood qi flowed and formed Jiang Sheng's liver.

After his heart and
