"Ha ha ha ha!"
The tiger demon burst into unbridled laughter, its roar booming like thunder and sending birds and beasts fleeing through the forest.
"Ha ha ha ha! Daoist, you can barely keep yourself alive, yet you still dream of taking my life?"
"Die!"
Dozens of Chang Ghosts surged forward, one after another. However powerful that Dao Foundation realm Daoist might be, how long could he hold out?
Other cultivators had come before, hoping to make their names by slaying a demon. Yet hadn't it continued to reign supreme over Qingping Mountain all the same?
Chill winds gusted, and ghosts wailed like howling wolves!
The ghostly energy of dozens of Chang Ghosts all but blotted out the sky!
That sinister, writhing energy engulfed an area more than a hundred zhang across. The Chang Ghosts lurked within it, revealing only fleeting glimpses of themselves, turning the surroundings of the Mountain God Temple into a realm of ghosts.
Seeing Jiang Sheng surrounded by so many Chang Ghosts, the old man lost every ounce of courage and slumped helplessly to the ground.
"It's over. It's all over! The Daoist will die, and so will the two of us!"
His little grandson was pale with terror, trembling all over and unable to utter a word.
The tiger demon turned toward the grandfather and grandson inside the ruined Mountain God Temple. Its bloody maw split into a savage grin. "Don't be impatient, you two human livestock. Once I've eaten that tender-skinned Daoist, I'll eat your grandson. Then it'll be your turn!"
At those words, tears streamed down the old man's face, and he sobbed so hard he could barely speak. "It's all my fault! My grandson! It's Grandpa's fault! If only I'd listened to the Daoist!"
The old man truly regretted it. Had he believed Jiang Sheng earlier, he could have taken his little grandson away safely long ago, instead of being trapped here with no escape.
Just as the old man beat his chest and stamped his feet in remorse, tears and mucus streaming down his face, Jiang Sheng's voice suddenly rang out within that ghostly realm. "If you expect these Chang Ghosts to wear me down until I die, Mountain Lord, you're sorely mistaken."
The tiger demon looked back in shock. That sinister ghostly realm, perfectly intact a moment before, was now like a glass sphere riddled with cracks of brilliant light!
Crack, crack, crack!
Like shattering glass, the sinister ghostly realm broke apart in an instant!
The tiger demon saw Jiang Sheng standing in his original spot like a green pine, without having moved a single step. The longsword in his hand sent out streak after streak of azure Sword Qi!
The Sword Qi pierced the ghostly realm, tearing the Chang Ghosts apart as they dissolved into nothing with agonized wails.
After the first Chang Ghost was erased by the Sword Qi, more and more turned into ghostly energy and returned to heaven and earth.
The tiger demon's heart bled at the sight!
Those were its Chang Ghosts—its assets, the very foundation of its dominion over Qingping Mountain!
The tiger demon could not stand by and watch Jiang Sheng keep wiping out its Chang Ghosts.
It threw back its head and roared. Its furious cry shook the mountain forest, and rolling waves of sound tore through the air like a cannon blast, hurtling straight toward Jiang Sheng.
"Kill!"
With that roar, the tiger demon leaped up. Its three-zhang body pounced on Jiang Sheng like a small mountain—a ravenous tiger springing upon its prey!
"Watch out, Daoist!"
The old man was overjoyed to see Jiang Sheng still alive, but when the tiger demon attacked, he hurriedly shouted a warning.
Jiang Sheng remained utterly unruffled, paying no heed to the tiger demon's assault. With a twist of his body, he rose into the air as lightly as a swallow among the clouds, evading its lethal pounce.
When the tiger demon missed and turned to look for Jiang Sheng, it found him already standing atop its mountain god dais!
That was its place!
"You damned Daoist!"
Humiliated and furious, the tiger demon opened its mouth and gathered power, boundless demonic energy converging within its jaws.
With a roar, that demonic energy erupted from its mouth as a pillar of wind. In a single blast, it shredded the howling wind and night rain, piercing the curtain of rain as it hurtled toward Jiang Sheng with the force to grind everything apart.
Wind followed the tiger!
Tigers were already aided by the wind, and after becoming a demon, it had mastered all manner of wind arts. This Wind Roar could turn surging demonic winds into a horizontal tornado that shredded its foes!
Yet Jiang Sheng remained just as composed. He slowly raised the three-foot Qing Feng in his right hand toward the sky. "A paltry trick."
As the pillar of wind came howling toward him, Jiang Sheng calmly swung down his longsword. "Sever!"
The azure lotuses wreathing the jet-black longsword blossomed. Pale azure Sword Qi surged forth, spanning a hundred zhang!
The azure Sword Qi collided with the tiger demon's Wind Roar. In an instant, it pierced the tornado formed from surging demonic energy!
That raging, roaring demonic wind dissolved between heaven and earth in the blink of an eye.
The old man and his little grandson both stared wide-eyed at the sight. This Daoist was actually that powerful?!
Could he be an immortal descended to the mortal world?!
Jiang Sheng looked at the tiger demon with a faint smile. "Do you have any other abilities you haven't used, Mountain Lord? If you've exhausted your tricks, then you're about to die!"
"Damn you! Damn you! Damned human livestock!" The tiger demon's face twisted savagely, whether in fury or fear, it was impossible to tell!
The Daoist before it was far too terrifying!
He had so many techniques, such formidable abilities, and an utterly mysterious background!
Who knew when such a powerful Daoist had appeared in Qingshan County—and now he wanted to seize its territory!
Too terrifying!
Fear had already taken root in the tiger demon's heart, but it knew even more clearly that unless it killed Jiang Sheng, it could never escape!
Suddenly, its eyes shifted as an idea came to it. It couldn't defeat Jiang Sheng in a fight, but what about a sneak attack?
If it pretended to surrender first, then attacked while Jiang Sheng was off guard, wouldn't its abilities be enough to devour this Daoist?
At that thought, the tiger demon abruptly prostrated itself. "Your might is divine, Daoist! This lowly demon is willing to serve as your mount. Please spare my life!"
The grandfather and grandson were delighted. "The Daoist really has subdued the tiger demon!"
The old man's dim, aging eyes could not distinguish truth from falsehood, but Jiang Sheng saw everything clearly. Though the tiger demon appeared to bow its head deeply in submission, the cunning and malice in its eyes had not diminished in the slightest!
"Oh? In that case, I'll spare your life." As he spoke, Jiang Sheng sheathed his sword and deliberately took a few steps forward.
An opening!
The tiger demon knew the chance it had been waiting for had arrived. Jiang Sheng stood before it, seemingly utterly defenseless. There was no escape for him now!
"Mere human livestock—die!"
Roaring, the tiger demon suddenly sprang up, its three-zhang body unleashing boundless strength!
Wrapped in surging demonic winds, the enormous tiger demon hurtled straight toward Jiang Sheng with a howl.
Its ghostly green eyes gleamed with savagery and glee!
At the sight, the old man's heart nearly leaped into his throat. The tiger demon had resorted to trickery!
The tiger demon attacked with overwhelming might, a rank wind striking the face and its baleful tiger aura suppressing the soul!
It had plainly thrown every ounce of its strength into this ambush to kill Jiang Sheng!
Yet Jiang Sheng's expression remained serene.
"I knew you would!"
"River Flow!"
Qing Feng left his sheath, the sword flowing like river water.
For a fleeting moment, a full moon seemed to shine in the sky, and a river swept in from the east.
All the tiger demon saw was surging Sword Qi like a mighty river!
The grandfather and grandson stared even wider. It seemed as though a great river truly had appeared before them all, and they could even hear its roaring waters flowing eastward.
In an instant, the wind and rain stopped, and all fell silent.
With a boom, the tiger demon's enormous body fell from the air and struck the ground, already lifeless.
Just then, the rain thinned and the wind died. The dark clouds scattered, and cold, clear moonlight spilled from the lofty heavens into the mortal world, illuminating everything for a hundred zhang around.
The Daoist stood with sword in hand, his face like flawless jade, his bearing striking and handsome.
Having witnessed the entire battle, the old man could not help murmuring to himself, "Daoist, you truly are an immortal descended to the mortal world!"
Ah, there really were so many unearthed relics in gay circles.
