The bronze chime rang long and clear as faint candle flames lit one after another.
Under the candlelight, the roaming dragons and soaring phoenixes on the stone walls seemed to come alive. The dragons and phoenixes cast from bronze essence and iron spirits slowly shifted across the walls, revealing layer upon layer of mural shadows beneath them.
Divine palaces and jade halls, Sun Mulberry and Moon Osmanthus; rosy light and auspicious vapors held up tier upon tier of divine halls, where immortals and gods came and went, accompanied by spirit beasts.
Along the vermilion steps of the imperial path, coiling dragons and chi-kissed beasts wound around pillars and spat pearls. Spirit tortoises rode the waves, azure luans commanded the wind, while spirit immortals gathered in clusters alongside spirit apes and white deer.
The candle flames swayed, casting a long shadow across the steps. Through it, the dangling jade beads of an imperial crown could vaguely be seen trembling.
Accompanied by the chimes, the figure slowly descended the steps. Before the bronze hall doors engraved with inscriptions of heavenly palaces, lampstands shaped like flying cranes holding candles lined both sides, faintly seeming to reflect some stellar palace in the heavens.
The bronze hall doors, as heavy and majestic as mountains, slowly opened, and the figure stepped inside.
Within the bronze hall, the layout formed a Bagua pattern. Stars adorned each of the eight directions, while three tiers of high platforms stood at the center. A stone stele stood atop them, and beneath it lay an enormous coffin.
The coffin seemed forged from nether bronze, patterned with dragons and phoenixes and engraved with ghostly and divine motifs. It stood three zhang high and nine zhang long. Though called a coffin, it resembled a sleeping palace more than anything else.
