Arc 9Asuka’s Death and Liuyun’s Fury

Liuyun was imprisoned amid Root’s abduction of Asuka and Cloud Village’s demand for his execution, then accepted a staged death to save her and avert war. Izanagi revived him after Asuka died by suicide, and his grief drove him into battle against Konoha, with Danzo among those who confronted him.

  • Liuyun attacked Root headquarters with the Black Dragon while demanding Asuka’s return, and Sarutobi Hiruzen stopped him and promised to search for her.

Arc 10Liuyun Defeats the Cloud

Liuyun left Konoha and grew stronger, then fought the Third Raikage and Cloud Village, killing the Raikage and capturing the Two-Tails. He returned to Otogakure with Matatabi as the other nations reacted to his growing power and Konoha faced criticism for its treatment of him.

  • Liuyun fought Madara Uchiha in the Death Forest, mastered Sage Mode, and drove Madara underground before reuniting with Kushina in Konoha.
  • Liuyun asked Kushina to leave with him, but she chose to stay in Konoha, so Liuyun departed and trained in Ryūchi Cave.

Arc 11Liuyun’s War on the Nations

Liuyun captured several Jinchuriki, provoking the Five Great Nations to declare a hunt and devastate Hidden Mist Village in response to his pursuit of the Tailed Beasts. He then sought out Akatsuki, challenged its ideals of peace, and left Nagato wondering whether Liuyun had come for him.

  • The Third Hokage resigned after Konoha learned of Liuyun’s betrayal, while Liuyun searched for the Eight-Tails before returning to support Kushina as Mito Uzumaki lay dying.
  • Liuyun helped transfer the Nine-Tails into Kushina, absorbed its resentment, and later extracted some of its Chakra before leaving Konoha with Mito’s sealing notes.

Arc 12The Five Kage’s Defeat

Liuyun defeated the Five Kage, then returned to Konoha as the nations prepared to use Kushina as bait. He helped force a ceasefire and left Konoha with ten years of peace, while warning the other nations not to defy him.

  • Liuyun lured the Five Kage to the Rain Country and defeated them, killing the Third Mizukage and badly injuring the Fourth Raikage and Sarutobi Hiruzen.
  • The surviving Kage blamed Konoha for Liuyun’s rise and proposed using Kushina as bait, but Hiruzen refused to surrender her and prepared Konoha for war.
