Liuyun spent a thousand years in the Yellow Springs Realm with Kushina, growing stronger by hunting Yomi creatures and using Infinite Tsukuyomi and the God Tree to harvest their power. After the God Tree bore a Yellow Springs Fruit, Liuyun urged Kushina to eat it so she could gain her own mark, but she resisted.

• Liuyun slaughtered Yomi creatures with the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi and absorbed their black qi through his Yellow Springs Black Lotus Seal, while fearing that his growing ties to Yomi might prevent his return to the Yang Realm.
• Liuyun and Kushina spent a thousand years in the Yellow Springs Realm as he prepared his God Tree to bloom again.

• Liuyun repeatedly punched the void in the Yellow Springs Realm but could not break the barrier, while Nanao and the others gave up their search and prepared to return home.
• Liuyun told Kushina that he could feel the children and Mom on the other side, then used the World-Destroying Black Lotus and Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi to pierce through the Underworld barrier and attack the Yang Realm barrier.
