Background / History
Tang San initially fought as a Shrek Academy student and Soul Arena contestant. He refused to acknowledge an indirect defeat to Dai Mubai, insisting that he could still take Dai down in a fight to the death 9. During a later match, he attempted to kill the Iron Blood Combination after they surrendered; referee Neuvillette intervened and knocked him unconscious for breaking the Arena's rules 23.
His clashes with Neuvillette became a personal obsession. Tang San considered the referee unfair, wished for his death, and later challenged him to a one-on-one soul battle while wagering for a top-grade Tabular Crystal 30 53. His rivalry with Ma Hongjun also escalated when Evil Fire severely burned him during their Arena match, leaving him unconscious and badly injured 36.
Tang San learned that his father was the Haotian Douluo, Tang Hao, and that Xiao Wu was a transformed Ten Thousand Year Soft Bone Rabbit 169. Although Tang Hao ordered him to watch Xiao Wu, Tang San gave her the King of Hell's Summons and urged her to flee toward Sunset Forest 170. Afterward, Tang Hao taught him to manufacture danger so that Xiao Wu could be “saved” by him, a plan Tang San accepted after believing it had improved her feelings toward him 180.
Following the awakening of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, Tang San's injured body recovered and his appearance changed substantially. He adopted the identity of Tang Yin, entered Canghui Academy, and joined its tournament battle team as a substitute despite being regarded as its strongest one-on-one fighter 188.
Appearance
Before his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, Tang San was a dark-skinned, ordinary-looking youth whose appearance resembled Tang Hao's and reflected his time working at a forge 9. His second awakening made his complexion fairer and his bearing gentler and more refined, allowing him to pass as Tang Yin without former acquaintances recognizing him 188.
- Blue Silver Emperor awakening altered his appearance enough to conceal his identity. 188
- His Blue Silver Emperor Martial Soul resembles Blue Silver Grass, but bears blue-gold coloring and patterns. 208
- During the tournament, he was considered among the more handsome contestants under his Tang Yin identity. 327
Personality
Tang San is intensely proud of his ability and frequently refuses to concede defeat, even after unfavorable outcomes. His resentment toward Neuvillette persisted for years because he believed their encounters had humiliated him and deprived him of Tang Sect techniques 9 199.
He is protective of Xiao Wu and consistently prioritizes her over newer companions. When Oscar and Ma Hongjun argued with Xiao Wu, Tang San sided with her and urged the two to focus on cultivation instead 20. He later risked conflict with Tang Hao to help Xiao Wu escape after learning her true identity 170.
In battle, Tang San is calculating, adaptable, and willing to conceal his strength. He avoided participating against Blazing Academy to preserve his trump cards, employed feints against Heavenly Water Academy, and used defensive positioning to survive a six-person attack from Divine Wind Academy 229 310 324. His later meeting with Neuvillette shows a more pragmatic side: he openly revealed his identity, sought help regarding Twin Martial Souls, and offered a Tang Sect technique in gratitude 271 272.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses the Blue Silver Emperor and Haotian Hammer Martial Souls. Neuvillette identifies Twin Martial Souls as dangerous because a human body may not endure adding Soul Rings to the second Martial Soul, potentially causing an explosion 271.
- Blue Silver Emperor — awakened from his initial Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul after his bloodline activation. 188 208
- Haotian Hammer — his second Martial Soul; Tang San intends to add Soul Rings to it after learning a viable cultivation method. 82 216
- Twin Martial Soul limitation — the two Martial Souls' attributes may conflict when rings are added to the second Martial Soul. 271 272
- Fourth natal Soul Ring — self-condensed according to the limit of his physical strength rather than absorbed from a Soul Beast. 205 214
Blue Silver Emperor Soul Skills
Tang San's Blue Silver Emperor serves as his principal combat Martial Soul during the tournament.
- Blue Silver Entanglement — binds opponents and can form a defensive wall or cocoon around Tang San. 10 324
- Parasitism — used as a follow-up after Blue Silver Entanglement to set up attacks. 121
- Blue Silver Overlord Spear — a Ten Thousand Year fourth Soul Skill that creates a blue-gold spear with high toughness and penetration. 208
- Blue Silver Domain — strengthens Tang San, suppresses opponents, and heals his injuries. 324
- Wildfire Burns Incessantly, Spring Breeze Brings New Life — a healing Soul Skill that may also be activated actively. 230
- Flight Soul Skill — grants aerial mobility, which Tang San uses to counter ground-bound opponents. 230 286
Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San retains techniques from the Tang Sect and relies on them heavily in close combat and low-to-mid-level fights.
- Purple Demon Eyes — improves his perception and is used to read opponents' actions. 35 324
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — a movement technique that produces rapid, phantom-like footwork. 35 208
- Mystic Jade Hand — hardens the hands against weapons, water, fire, and poison after mastery; Tang San offered its method to Neuvillette. 272
- Crane Controlling Dragon Catching — a Tang Sect technique suited for direct confrontation with Battle Soul Masters. 324
- Hidden weapons — restricted in the tournament, but regarded by Tang San as one of his decisive advantages outside regulated matches. 253 285
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Ten Thousand Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone — strengthened his body, restored his injured condition after his bloodline awakening, and granted a flight ability. 188 205 260
- Twenty-Three Bridges Under the Moonlit Night — his storage belt; formerly called the Twenty-Four Bridges before one gem was given to Xiao Wu. 272
- King of Hell's Summons — given to Xiao Wu to aid her escape from Tang Hao and Spirit Hall. 170
- Hidden weapons — Tang San's preferred killing tools outside tournament restrictions. 253
Relationships
- Xiao Wu — childhood companion and romantic interest. Tang San vows to protect her, helps her flee after learning she is a transformed Soul Beast, and later follows Tang Hao's plan to win her affection. 53 170 180
- Tang Hao — father and the Haotian Douluo. Tang Hao protects and trains Tang San, but also pressures him to treat Xiao Wu as a potential source of a Soul Ring and Soul Bone. 169 180
- Yu Xiaogang — former teacher. Tang San once revered him deeply, but later learned that Yu's theories were flawed and that Tang San had been treated as a test subject for their validation. 82 214
- Neuvillette — former Soul Arena referee, rival, and eventual source of crucial information. Tang San initially hated him, but later sought his counsel on Twin Martial Souls and offered him Mystic Jade Hand. 53 199 271 272
- Focalors — Neuvillette's partner. She knew Tang San's Twin Martial Soul secret before he revealed it and participated in explaining its dangers to him. 271
- Ma Hongjun — former Shrek associate and rival. Ma Hongjun severely burned Tang San in an Arena match, later recognized Tang Yin as Tang San, and helped expose his identity to Spirit Hall. 36 324 327
- Shi Nian — Canghui Academy teacher. He warned Tang San that displaying his strength too openly could invite danger. 188 213
- Bibi Dong — an enemy of Tang Hao's family and a fellow Twin Martial Soul user. Tang San learns that she successfully resolved the Soul Ring conflict affecting Twin Martial Souls. 272
