Hikari looked at Tsunade in disbelief. He was practically stunned.
I have never seen such a shameless person!
Do you think you're Jiaqian Jushi or something?
You want more money too!
Naturally, Tsunade had no idea what "Jiaqian Jushi" meant, but that did not stop her from continuing.
"What? You should be pretty rich, right? Think about who I am—the Fifth Hokage of Konoha! You won't lose out by spending money, and you won't get scammed either. Maybe one day, if I'm in a good mood, I'll throw in Shizune as a bonus!"
Hikari: ( ̄_, ̄)
Do you really think I'd believe that nonsense?
Watching Tsunade utterly abandon her dignity, Hikari stood up and turned to leave without hesitation.
"Don't go! I don't have money to pay the bill!"
Though Tsunade had all sorts of flaws and would even dodge her creditors, there was one thing she did well: when she ate, she paid.
Right now, the owner was watching Tsunade like a hawk, terrified that she might run off.
With Tsunade's strength, even if this were heavily guarded Kumogakure, she could easily escape after eating without paying.
But doing that would be truly shameless.
Even Tsunade's bottom line was not that low.
Hikari turned back, took out one hundred thousand ryo from his pocket, and placed it on the table. "Remember to pay the bill. I don't want to see Konoha's Fifth Hokage washing dishes here to work off her debt."
"Hehe!"
Swiftly snatching up the money, Tsunade cheerfully went to pay the owner. Then, holding the wine she had asked for, she began drinking straight from the bottle.
"Let's go!"
Hikari's worldview was once again shattered by Tsunade. "You're not eating?"
Tsunade shook the bottle. "As long as I have alcohol in this life, that's enough for me."
Fine then!
Hikari could not be bothered with her anymore and turned toward the exit. Tsunade quickly caught up, looping one arm through his while holding the bottle in her other hand. "Hikari, want some? Your big sister just drank from it!"
"That's an indirect kiss. Charging you one hundred thousand isn't too much, right?"
Hikari looked at her with disgust. "Why would I spend one hundred thousand to drink that? With that money, I could have a great time at Takamagahara. Why would I come to you?"
"What's wrong with your big sister here? Tell me, and I'll change!" Tsunade did not mind Hikari looking down on her at all. As far as she was concerned, as long as Hikari obediently paid up, she would not say anything even if he cursed her to her face.
At most, she would curse him a couple of times behind his back.
Looking at Hikari's face, so much like that of the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, Tsunade felt an innate sense of closeness. Especially after learning that Hikari was a young man with more money than he knew what to do with, that feeling grew even stronger.
"I hope you'll stay farther away from me!"
You're already this old and still don't know how to mind your image. You're the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, for crying out loud. Aren't you ashamed of embarrassing yourself here today?
Tsunade grinned at him.
"Is it because you think I exposed my identity here?"
"I knew you cared about me!"
Hikari: ???
Is this woman brain-damaged?
When did I ever care about her? And how did she know I disliked her exposing her identity?
Hearing Hikari's inner thoughts, Tsunade's mood became even brighter.
Little brat, you're still far too green to contend with your big sister.
I can hear your thoughts. So, are you scared now?
But I'm not telling you. Hehe, I'm just having fun. What can you do about it?
Having finally gained the upper hand in her exchange with Hikari, Tsunade was delighted.
"Don't worry. In other places, the Hokage's name might make people curious, but here, the Daimyo is what matters most. No matter what country a ninja comes from, once they arrive here, dragons have to coil and tigers have to lie down. If you give your big sister another one hundred thousand ryo, I can keep explaining."
Hikari tugged at his arm, but could not pull it free.
More importantly, Tsunade's two massive watermelons had trapped his arm between them, leaving Hikari unable to exert any strength.
"No need. I'm not curious about that."
"Is that so? If you're not curious about this, then let's change the subject. What do you think of Shizune?" Tsunade's service attitude toward a rich patron was quite good.
Now that she was trying every possible way to get money out of Hikari's pockets, she naturally followed his lead.
"Shizune is great. She can grace a reception hall, take the battlefield, and handle paperwork in the office." At that point, Hikari glanced at Tsunade. "I really don't know why Shizune follows you."
"Since you feel sorry for her, why not marry her?"
"No!"
Shizune is too well-endowed. I don't want to sleep at night hugging a tablet. Compared to that, I'd rather hug an old woman like you. Those watermelons are so huge—I wonder what they feel like.
Tsunade's old face flushed, but Hikari did not look at her. It was as if he had simply ignored her completely.
Hikari, you brat. You might act like you don't care for me, but deep down, you still like this irresistible figure of mine!
Tsunade was secretly delighted.
"Since you don't like Shizune, how about letting Shizune marry your older brother?"
Kotetsu Hagane had the strength of a Special Jonin and was considered a proper elite ninja in Konoha. And with a younger brother like Hikari, who had more money than he knew what to do with, how much bride price would he have to give when he got married?
As Shizune's only elder, would that money not end up in her hands?
Just thinking about it made her happy.
Shizune is pretty popular. If she married my brother Izumo, that wouldn't be bad. But...
It feels like he'd be marrying above his station. A girl that rich is not someone Brother Izumo could handle. And Shizune is so strong—if the two of them ever fought, wouldn't Brother Izumo be completely bullied?
Thinking that, Hikari once again rejected Tsunade's kind offer.
"No need. I'd better find my brother an ordinary girl."
Compared with Jonin, Kotetsu Hagane was average. But compared with Genin, or even ordinary people living in Konoha, Kotetsu Hagane was outstanding.
A Special Jonin was the highest level in Konoha aside from Jonin.
It could be said that a Special Jonin might not necessarily be able to defeat an Elite Chunin, but the title represented the Hokage's high expectations for him.
In other places, the Hokage's words did not carry much weight.
But in Konoha, the Hokage, as the village chief, could still make decisions without being challenged.
Well, so long as the Hokage did not make some outrageously unpopular decision, no one would deliberately oppose them.
In the eyes of Konoha's ninja clans, the current Tsunade and the future Sixth Hokage, Kakashi Hatake, were both the best candidates to inherit the title of Hokage.
First, both of them were powerful and renowned throughout the Five Great Nations.
Then there were their family situations. Neither had the sort of extended family baggage that came with countless relatives. At a time like this, personnel decisions would naturally be relatively fair. Such an environment was best for Konoha's ninja clans.
"How about this? What do you think of Da Ju?"
"She's from my clan. Years ago, the Senju Clan merged into Konoha, but Da Ju refused to marry in order to preserve the purity of the Senju. You get along with her pretty well, right?"
