Sure enough, taking on opponents above his level was more thrilling—so much Experience Points had exploded out at once.
Fan Lang absorbed all that experience, and his level shot up immediately.
Player level increased to Mystic General Level 3. Mystic Power +300, Health +300. Player level increased to Mystic General Level 4. Mystic Power +300, Health +300.
Two levels in a row!
Ever since reaching the Mystic General realm, Fan Lang's leveling speed had clearly slowed. Gaining two levels at once was already quite good.
The instant he leveled up, a surge of newfound power welled up from within Fan Lang, flooding his limbs and bones. His Dantian churned violently, like a beating drum.
The wounds on his body healed rapidly at a visible rate, and his exhaustion was swept away. He became vigorous and full of energy again, restored to his peak condition.
If he could, he truly wished he could piece the Wind Fire Brothers back together and fight them all over again.
This level-up had not only yielded a great deal of Experience Points, but also two random Four Star Cards. Those were excellent rewards.
The Flame Blaze Sword in Fan Lang's hand was only three-star. Any four-star weapon he drew at random would be stronger than it.
"My luck is terrible. I shouldn't rush to draw the cards yet. Once I get back and have time, I'll see if I can modify them. It'd be much safer if I could directly change them into the cards I want."
Fan Lang made his decision and suppressed the urge to draw cards.
This arena battle, a challenge across levels, produced a startling outcome that shook all sides.
A Mystic General had defeated two Mystic Spirits. It was simply unbelievable.
That proud record of ten consecutive victories was broken in one stroke, rising to eleven straight wins. The spectators nearly went wild, especially those gamblers who had bet on Fan Lang. Fan Lang's odds had been quite high, earning them a fortune.
"Invincible Wanderer!"
"Wanderer, well fought!"
"Haha, I'm rich now! This is your reward!"
"Catch this! I'm giving you my dudou!"
Some spectators gave rewards on the spot, tossing gold and silver into the arena. One tough woman even yanked a red dudou from her neckline and threw it down. She was truly bold.
Ordinary gladiators might have gone to pick up those rewards, but Fan Lang could not be bothered. That little money was not worth bending down for.
Inside a private room in the stands, Dou Bin stared dumbfounded. He had thought this arena battle was foolproof, never expecting such an outcome.
"Damn it, a Mystic General defeated two Mystic Spirits? It's over. This time, we've lost a fortune." Dou Bin's heart ached so badly that he did not even feel like smoking.
The hidden owner of the Underground Arena sat beside him. He kept a low profile and was calmer than Dou Bin.
"That Wanderer's strength is strange. Even I can't quite gauge him. Don't let him fight again today. The next time he comes, I'll personally arrange his arena battle."
After giving these instructions, the owner stood up and left the private room.
Dou Bin looked dejected. He truly did not want to arrange any more arena battles for Fan Lang. This was simply someone who could not be judged by common sense. No arrangement would be safe.
Behind an iron door.
The Butcher Girl, who had been put up as a wager, had witnessed Fan Lang's entire battle with her own eyes. Her eyes were wide, and her emotions surged like raging waves, unable to calm for a long time.
She was not merely shocked by Fan Lang's strength. What mattered more to her was her own future.
"He won... Does that mean I can leave the Underground Arena?"
At the thought, the Butcher Girl's heart raced.
She had long had enough of this life without daylight, wanting to cast off her identity as a slave gladiator. Now, she had finally seen a glimmer of hope.
She could not be sure whether the Underground Arena would honor its promise. She also feared that, even after leaving, she would still be treated as a slave. That would be meaningless—nothing more than trading one cage for another.
The young figure in the arena might very well become her new master.
One stone stirred up a thousand waves. Aside from these people, there was someone else who cared greatly about the battle's outcome.
Dressed in white and radiating pride, he rose from the VIP platform, standing out from the crowd like a crane among chickens.
The one who stood was a young man about the same age as Fan Lang. He had sword eyebrows and bright eyes, red lips and white teeth. By any standard, he was a handsome young man.
"Quiet."
The white-clad youth spoke calmly.
His voice was not loud, yet it carried the authority of someone giving orders.
Two guards stood watch nearby, and they immediately carried out the youth's command.
"The Murong Clan Leader commands that you all be quiet!"
"Shut up, all of you! Anyone who keeps shouting will be killed without mercy!"
The two guards were fiercer than the other, forcing so many people into silence.
They naturally dared to act so brazenly because they had something to rely on.
The Murong Family was one of the three great local powers, able to stand on equal footing with the City Lord's Mansion. Experts filled the clan, and it possessed a well-trained private army.
As the Murong Family's Clan Leader, the weight of his words was easy to imagine.
The arena abruptly became much quieter. The previous clamor was gone as everyone turned to look toward the VIP platform and saw the young man.
"It's Murong Bai, the new head of the Murong Family."
"Shh, stop talking. The Murong Family isn't someone we can afford to provoke."
Anyone from Wind Cloud City recognized Murong Bai, or at the very least understood the weight carried by his name.
Murong Bai was the most outstanding genius of the Murong Family's new generation, without equal. He was also a legitimate descendant of the main bloodline. After the previous family head died, he had been elevated to the position, becoming the youngest head in the Murong Family's history.
He had been only fifteen when he took power. Two years had passed, and he was now merely seventeen.
Talent, strength, authority, looks, wealth—he had it all. He was practically perfect. The lovestruck young women of Wind Cloud City who wanted to marry him could line up across several streets.
Murong Bai looked down at Fan Lang inside the Duel Arena.
Only after the Duel Arena had fallen completely silent did Murong Bai begin to speak.
"Fan Lang, I watched your performance just now. Your strength is quite good, and you've piqued my interest. You must participate in the Wind Cloud Genius Battle seven days from now. When the time comes, I will fight you," Murong Bai said flatly.
Fan Lang naturally knew Murong Bai and had heard of the Wind Cloud Genius Battle, but he had not expected Murong Bai to call him out by name and issue a challenge.
That commanding attitude made Fan Lang rather displeased.
"What if I don't participate?" Fan Lang asked with a raised brow.
"Do as I say, and you'll still have a place in Wind Cloud City. If you don't show up at the Wind Cloud Genius Battle, then wait for someone else to collect your corpse!" A chill appeared in Murong Bai's eyes as he threatened Fan Lang.
Given Murong Bai's status and the Murong Family's strength, he truly had the right to say such things.
Fan Lang laughed in extreme anger.
"Heh heh, heh heh."
Other than those two cold laughs, Fan Lang said nothing more.
Rather than talking, he preferred taking action.
He currently lacked the ability to crush the Murong Family, so there was no point saying anything. Once he had strength, his words would carry weight.
The Wind Cloud Genius Battle had already been part of his plans. Now that Murong Bai had provoked him, he had even more reason to participate.
Men were the creatures least able to endure provocation in this world!
