Xuanzang’s party gained new disciples and crossed a series of demon-haunted trials as Sun Wukong repeatedly rescued his companions. The arc ended with Xuanzang, Zhu Bajie, and Sand Monk imprisoned by Heavenly Centipede while Sun Wukong sought a way to defeat him.

• Sun Wukong freed Xuanzang from the mountain bandits, then stayed with him through a snowy night and received a fur garment Xuanzang made.
• Guanyin gave Xuanzang a Tightening Hoop for Sun Wukong, and Sun Wukong accepted it before continuing west with his master.
• Sun Wukong defeated Zhu Ganglie at Gao Family Village, and Zhu Ganglie became Bajie and joined Xuanzang’s pilgrimage.
• Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie overcame Yellow Wind and Red Boy, while the White Dragon joined the party as Xuanzang’s horse.
• Sun Wukong rescued Xuanzang from the demons at Chechi Kingdom and the Flowing Sand River, where Curtain Lifting General became Sand Monk.
• After Xuanzang expelled Sun Wukong for killing the skeleton demon, a double impersonated him, but Tathagata helped Sun Wukong defeat it and return to the group.
• Sun Wukong rescued Xuanzang from the Leopard Head Demon King, recovered the Brocade Kasaya from Black Bear Demon, and restored Zhen Yuan Da Xian’s Ginseng Fruit Tree after knocking it down.
• Spider Demons captured Xuanzang and Sand Monk, and Sun Wukong rescued them before Heavenly Centipede poisoned and imprisoned the group, and Sun Wukong sought help from Mao Ri Xing Guan.

Xuanzang and his disciples overcame a succession of demons, disasters, and corrupt officials as they continued west. After helping Old Master expose his relatives’ poisoning and restore his youngest son as heir, the pilgrims left for Spirit Mountain.

• Sun Wukong rescued Xuanzang and the others from Heavenly Centipede, then infiltrated Gold and Silver Cave, where he recovered Lord Lao’s treasures and freed the pilgrims.
• Xuanzang and his disciples crossed the Western Liang Woman's Kingdom, overcame their pregnancies with Wishful True Immortal’s water, and continued their journey after the Queen proposed to Xuanzang.
• Sun Wukong obtained Iron Fan Princess’s Banana Palm Fan to extinguish Flame Mountain, then forced the Jade Emperor to send rain to drought-stricken Fengxian County.
• Sun Wukong and his companions defeated demons at Jisai Country, Little Thunderclap Temple, and Lion Camel Ridge, rescuing Xuanzang and recovering the Golden Light Sarira.
• Sun Wukong exposed the White Fox demon in Bikshu Kingdom and helped Nezha capture the White-haired Rat demon after she abducted Xuanzang.
• Sun Wukong and his companions defeated Yellow Lion and enlisted Great Yi Saving Suffering Heaven Venerable to resolve the Nine Spirits Primordial Saint’s grievance, then rescued Xuanzang from the Three Compatriot Demon Kings and the Jade Rabbit.
• Sun Wukong exposed corrupt officers in Diling County and helped Old Master prove that his relatives had poisoned him and restore his youngest son as heir.
• Xuanzang and his disciples stayed overnight at Old Master’s estate after his banquet, then departed toward Spirit Mountain.

Chi Yu created Liu Yun in a Nascent World, where he rose from an injured village boy to a powerful cultivator and destroyed the Green and Beast Races. After ascending through multiple realms, Liu Yun reached Sage Realm, but his attempt to kill Blood Slaughter Heaven Venerable ended with the Venerable’s revival.

• Chi Yu cast a thread of Origin Essence into a strange stone, and Liu Yun was born in the evolving Qing Chi World before setting out to train.
• Liu Yun became his Master’s disciple, grew powerful, rescued Zi Ying, and destroyed the Green Race after Zhu Tan abducted and imprisoned her.
• Liu Yun exterminated the Beast Race after discovering Meng Qi had betrayed Revival Village, then helped restore the Dian Race before ascending to Cang Yuan.
• Liu Yun cultivated under his Master, destroyed the Green and Beast Domains, and later ascended from Cang Yuan to Zhu Yuan and the Divine Court.
• Liu Yun entered the Qing Xuan Realm, was recognized as Qing Emperor Xuan Lord, and advanced through Taiyi Golden Immortal and Daluo before Golden Light devoured a Daoist who tried to possess him.
• Liu Yun met Blood Slaughter Heaven Venerable, comprehended the Blood Aura and Slaughter Laws, and advanced to the Sage Realm with help from the Scarlet Source and his Master.
• Liu Yun returned to the Dim Land, sealed Blood Slaughter Heaven Venerable in darkness, and exploded his body, but the Venerable revived.

Liu Yun traveled through worlds to recover Heng Xuan’s Nether Soul while gaining strength and mastering each world’s techniques and fires. After collecting and fusing many Heaven and Earth Fires, he reached peak Dou Emperor Realm and struck the vault of heaven, while Xiao Heng headed to the Yun Lan Sect for the Three-Year Agreement.

• Liu Yun killed Black Shi and Blood Slaughter, found the ruined palace beneath the Carefree Sea, and learned that Heng Xuan had gone to the Foot of Heng Chuan seeking the World Creation Source.
• Liu Yun journeyed through worlds in search of Heng Xuan’s Nether Soul, survived the Blood-Colored Long Worm, and reached the Great Dao Realm before killing it and recovering more of Heng Xuan’s sealed soul.
• Liu Yun met his Master and Lin Jing, then crossed into the world of Yang Guo and Little Dragon Girl, where he learned martial arts and later killed Guo Jing’s family and other fighters while Li Mochou followed him.
• Liu Yun shattered the Mortal Spirit Realm’s barrier and continued collecting Heng Xuan’s Nether Soul Stone, escaping the Tian Lords’ binding array before entering the world of the Xiao Clan.
• Living as the Xiao Clan’s Fourth Elder, Liu Yun mastered the Xuan Cultivation Method and Purple Xuan Scripture, reached Dou Sheng Peak, and began gathering Heaven and Earth Fires to break through his bottleneck.
• Liu Yun absorbed Lan Jiu Xuan Flame and several other fires while Xiao Heng won the Alchemist Competition and began searching for fires of his own.
• Lian Luan helped Liu Yun attract three Heaven and Earth Fires, while Xiao Heng gathered fires and advanced toward the Three-Year Agreement at the Yun Lan Sect.
