The retired emperor jolted at those words. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Emperor Xuanting.
"No need to pretend. Your story was full of holes."
Emperor Xuanting paused, then looked at the retired emperor again. "First the Northern Star King, now the retired emperor. You've put on quite a show with this trick. The man and the Ghost God were both you."
"You met the Tombkeeper Cult Leader? He showed you the power of Sword Mountain and won you over?"
White Wind had been found out, so he dropped the act and asked outright.
Emperor Xuanting gave a cold smile but neither confirmed nor denied it.
"One Sword Mountain was enough to scare you? What else did he promise you? Knowing how that cult leader operates, you were naive enough to believe him?" White Wind still couldn't understand it.
Wasn't Emperor Xuanting afraid the cult leader would settle accounts with him afterward?
One was human, the other a Ghost God. How could they possibly see eye to eye?
Had the threat Li Tianming posed frightened them this badly?
"Enough nonsense. Thirty-five million elite Eonic Gods, with all four cultivation systems—Ghost Gods, Star Realm Clan cultivators, beastmasters, and soul gods—united. Li Tianming, if you can survive this, I'll admit you've won me over, even if my imperial Ghost Gods are wiped out," Emperor Xuanting said calmly.
The calmer he was, the clearer it was to Li Tianming and White Wind that he had made his decision and would not change it.
White Wind sneered. "Then why tell us in advance? You could've followed the Xiao Clan's example and switched sides while coming to our aid. Wouldn't that have worked better?"
"I won't repeat a trick that's already been played. It's dull." Emperor Xuanting fixed White Wind with a stern gaze.
