Background

The Blood Fiend Sect was the leading sect of Yingchuan Commandery and controlled territory across two commanderies. It was stronger than the Vajra Sect but weaker than the Guiyuan Sect, whose expansion into Qingyang Commandery made conflict between the two powers inevitable 8 10.

Before Zhou Shan's transmigration, Blood Fiend Sect warriors disguised themselves during an attack on the West Ridge Iron Mine. After that operation failed, the sect subjugated the bandits of the Horizontal Cloud Mountain Range, monitored the mine, and prepared to seize its weapons once they were transported out 8.

By the time of its destruction, the sect was regarded as one of Yun Province's top three powers. Its disciples drew confidence from the sect's strength and its alliance with the Nine Cauldrons Sect 73.

Organization

• Hall Master Yang Yunshan — Directed operations from Black Wind Stronghold and led the attempt to seize military equipment from the West Ridge Iron Mine convoy 8.

Operations and Martial Resources

Bandit Control

The sect compelled the Thirteen Villages of Hengyun to obey its orders by poisoning their leaders. The bandits understood that defying the Guiyuan Sect could bring later retaliation, but defying the Blood Fiend Sect meant immediate death 10.

• During the convoy ambush, the sect deployed one hundred Blood Flame Army soldiers alongside roughly three to four thousand bandits 8 9.
• The bandits provided numbers, while Blood Fiend Sect martial artists and stronghold leaders targeted Black Armored Army officers 9 10.

Blood Flame Army Battle Arrays

Blood Flame Army soldiers used linked internal force and coordinated shield-and-spear formations to amplify their combat power 64.

• One hundred linked soldiers could contend with a Superclass Martial Artist 64.
• One thousand soldiers could contend with an Aperture-Opening peak martial artist possessing two hundred years of cultivation power 64.

Heart Shattering Palm

A Blood Fiend Sect disciple employed the Heart Shattering Palm, a venomous palm technique whose force could penetrate heavy armor and damage the heart meridians 10.

• Its sinister internal force specifically targeted the heart 11.
• A practitioner with insufficient cultivation could be overwhelmed in a direct exchange despite the technique's lethality 11.

Blood Origin Skill

The sect possessed the Blood Origin Skill, an auxiliary art that creates blood sacs to store vital blood and qi 65.

• Its Blood Burning Secret Method burns stored qi and blood to temporarily double a martial artist's strength 65.
• Cultivating the art requires materials from an Innate Realm Blood Bull Beast; consequently, few within the sect could practice it 65.
• The sect also held the Blood Battle Ten Forms, a spear art designed for use with the Blood Origin Skill and Blood Python Spear 73.

Blood Python Spear

The Blood Python Spear was the sect's only low-grade Treasure Weapon and was wielded by He Shixian during the Misty Forest ambush 72.

• It could create blood mist that obscured perception and interfered with an opponent's qi and blood 72 76.
• It could forcibly extract blood from weaker living beings, leaving victims as mummified corpses 73.

History

West Ridge Iron Mine and convoy ambush

Seeking five hundred sets of heavy armor within three months, Yang Yunshan organized an ambush on a Black Armored Army convoy leaving the West Ridge Iron Mine. The sect could not easily forge heavy armor itself and chose to seize it from Qingyang Commandery instead 8.

The operation relied on Blood Flame Army soldiers and the coerced bandits of the Thirteen Villages of Hengyun. It failed when Black Armored Army reinforcements arrived and turned the battle into a trap for the attackers 8 9 11.

Golden Fruit competition

The sect guarded the Golden Fruit in Yingchuan Commandery's Linglong Gold Mine before it ripened 55. When Zhou Shan arrived under the identity Gu Santong, the sect's Grandmasters attempted to recruit him, offering a Golden Fruit and guidance from their Marrow Cleansing Blood Changing Grandmaster 60.

The sect ultimately acquired two Golden Fruits. One was refined into Vajra Pills and used to help the former Vajra Sect disciple Li Batian enter the Innate Realm; the other remained in the sect treasury 64 73.

Recruitment of Zhou Shan and Song Heng's death

Song Heng approached Zhou Shan in Yingchuan Commandery City, offering Vajra Pills and future Heaven and Earth Spiritual Items in return for joining the sect. Zhou Shan rejected the proposal, stating that he did not wish to be bound by a faction 64.

When Song Heng attempted to stop Zhou Shan from leaving the city, Zhou Shan killed him in a single move. The Blood Flame Army attempted to contain Zhou Shan, but its battle array was broken apart; General Hong Chuan was then killed while attempting to stop Zhou Shan's escape 64.

War with the Guiyuan Sect

The Blood Fiend Sect fought the Guiyuan Sect for control of Yun Province. During a major clash between the Blood Flame Army and Black Armored Army, the sect joined with the Nine Cauldrons Sect to encircle three Guiyuan Sect Innate Realm Grandmasters 66.

Zhou Shan intervened to repay Commander Fang Yuan for giving him the Indestructible Vajra Skill. After Zhou Shan killed one Blood Fiend Sect Grandmaster in a single saber strike, the Blood Fiend Sect and Nine Cauldrons Sect withdrew 66.

Misty Forest ambush and destruction

Having sought refuge with the Nine Cauldrons Sect, the Blood Fiend Sect participated in a trap for Zhou Shan in Misty Forest. Two of its Blood Transmutation Grandmasters and two from the Nine Cauldrons Sect surrounded him, while He Shixian carried the Blood Python Spear to counter Zhou Shan's Vajra body 71 72.

Zhou Shan killed three Grandmasters with the Dragon Slaying Saber, then killed He Shixian and took the Blood Python Spear 72. He immediately attacked the Blood Fiend Sect's mountain gate, killed its four remaining Innate Realm Grandmasters at the headquarters, and looted its treasury 73.

The treasury contained fifty-two Spirit Stones, a Golden Fruit, a Blood Crystal from a Blood Bull Beast leader, refining materials, and the Blood Battle Ten Forms manual 73. Zhou Shan subsequently killed the sect's remaining Innate Realm Grandmaster in Changbai County, ending the Blood Fiend Sect as a force in Yun Province 73.
