Background / History

Liu Xin lost her parents while young and grew up isolated from ordinary peers, surrounded largely by elderly Great Witches. As a Li Witch Venerable, she was both feared and indulged by those around her. Her Wood-element affinity and care for medicinal herbs led her to keep Xia Jie—a rare pure Earth-element Witch—nearby as a laborer to tend them. 14

Her relationship with Xia Jie began through their repeated clashes rather than immediate romance. Xia Jie treated her without the fear normally shown toward a Witch Venerable, while Liu Xin alternately bullied, protected, and worried over him. Their affection developed gradually, beginning with an accidental first kiss and eventually leading to marriage. 14 18 19

During the final war against the Outer Demon Race, Liu Xin remained among the few Great Witches capable of acting after the collapse of Great Xia's forces. Refusing to abandon the remaining Witches, she invoked the ancestors of the Witch Tribe and performed Star Sacrifice. Her body was destroyed, her soul merged with a green light embodying the power of life's origin, and she ceased to exist as an individual. 14 18

Liu Xin initially appears spoiled, willful, domineering, and quick to use violence against Xia Jie. She treats him as a human-shaped fertilizer for her herbs, kicks him away on their wedding night, and does not tolerate others harming him. 14 18 19

Beneath that abrasive exterior, she is solitary, pure, and deeply protective. She is notably stingy with medicinal herbs yet becomes nervous when Xia Jie is injured. Her final decision reveals her defining commitment: the Witch Tribe must protect its own people, even those who have betrayed it. 14
