"Master, what are you hesitating about?"
At the top of Nameless Peak, the straightforward and innocent Luo Bei asked Yuan Tianyi, who stood before him.
At this moment, Luo Bei had long since washed away the filth from his body and put on a new set of Green Cloth and Hemp Garment. Although his complexion was still somewhat pale, the noonday sun shone on his face, and between his bones, brows, and eyes, there was an indescribable spiritual charm. Compared to before, even if his appearance had not changed much, it could truly be described with the words Rebirth and Metamorphosis.
After waking up, Luo Bei also discovered that although his physical strength had not grown as noticeably as after eating the Zhanxikezha Grass, his stamina had become much longer. He no longer tired easily, nor did he get hungry as quickly as before. Beyond that, Luo Bei found that the scars all over his body had faded until they were barely visible. But most crucially, his senses had become unprecedentedly sharp. He could clearly feel the flowers and grass sprouting and growing by the cliff, sense the mist rising in the valley, and even—though he was trying hard to forget the Mahākāla Secret Method but had not yet fully succeeded—unconsciously perceive the specks of True Sun Fire contained within the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy. It seemed that with just a casual hand seal of the Mahākāla Secret Method, he could easily draw this spiritual energy infused with True Sun Fire into his Sea of Consciousness.
Rebirth and Metamorphosis, Six Senses Sharpened!
Now, any cultivator who saw Luo Bei would surely feel that his aptitude was extremely high.
And it was precisely because of this that Luo Bei could sense that Yuan Tianyi, who seemed to merge with the entire world before him, carried an emotion he had never shown before—as if he were hesitating about something.
"It's nothing." Yuan Tianyi turned his head, and the trace of hesitation Luo Bei had sensed vanished in an instant. "This Miao Jiang secret medicine truly seizes the wonders of Heaven and Earth. Now, it is time for you to leave Luofu."
Time to leave Luofu?
That trace of hesitation... was it because of... parting?
How could Luo Bei have expected Yuan Tianyi to say such a thing? For a moment, he was stunned, then couldn't help blurting out, "Master, why?"
"The Luofu Sect has never followed conventions in its actions, but that itself is our rule." Looking at Luo Bei, who had undergone Rebirth and Metamorphosis yet remained simple and sincere, Yuan Tianyi sighed inwardly and casually gave a reason. "After a Luofu disciple completes foundation building and is formally taught a Luofu Technique, they will undergo Worldly Training. Only after cultivating to a certain level may they return to Luofu to pay respects to their master and continue their training."
"Worldly Training?"
"Without entering the world, cultivation is like building a carriage behind closed doors. Only by experiencing the Thousand Tribulations of the Mortal World can one's original heart become more steadfast."
Luo Bei, who had never doubted Yuan Tianyi since choosing to become a Luofu disciple, looked at him blankly. "Master, then what should I do?"
"First, follow me."
Yuan Tianyi did not answer Luo Bei's question immediately. Instead, he directly traced a Formation with both hands. Its subtle and profound intricacies surpassed even the hand seals of the Six Paths Purgatory Karmic Fire Red Lotus, which Yuan Tianyi had used that day to make Luo Bei remember the laws of the Heavenly Dao and simultaneously intimidate the Medicine King Sect into handing over the Shangyang Horn without any excuse.
Luo Bei first felt an ancient and vast aura tightly enveloping him and Yuan Tianyi. Then, to his shock, he saw dazzling Silver Light erupting from beneath Yuan Tianyi's and his own feet, as if the entire peak had been ignited from the bottom up by the Silver Light. As the silver radiance flickered, Luo Bei felt as though he were floating in the cosmos, while Yuan Tianyi gazed at the surrounding vast stars like a deity. As if breaking through the shackles of time and space, in the blink of an eye, Luo Bei found himself and Yuan Tianyi before the Heavenly Might Waterfall. With a fierce burst of silver light from Yuan Tianyi's hands, thunder seemed to roll layer upon layer through the nine heavens in an instant. The Heavenly Might Waterfall, along with the mountain itself, split open from the middle. Deep within the mountain belly, hundreds of feet down, a massive hall with a square base was revealed. The hall, the same color as the mountain rock with ancient patterns and carvings on its walls, did not appear splendid. But at a single glance, its antiquity, vicissitude, and grand momentum seemed to darken the very sky.
"What place is this?" Standing before the massive hall, even someone as bold and tenacious as Luo Bei felt his scalp tingle and nearly stopped breathing. The hall was far too towering. The arched main gate alone was over five zhang in diameter! Above the gate hung a stone-carved plaque with several ancient characters Luo Bei did not recognize, each the size of a zhang. Standing before the gate, Luo Bei felt an overwhelming pressure bearing down on him, as if he were a tiny person from Lilliput standing in a land of giants.
"This is where the successive ancestors of Luofu transmitted scriptures and realized the Dao. It took the Third Generation Ancestor of Luofu ten years of effort to complete. The Luofu Sect's thousand-year heritage is not superficial like that of ordinary sects." Yuan Tianyi's voice was indescribably majestic and solemn. With a flash of silver light, like a silver rainbow, he swept Luo Bei into the hall.
Luo Bei was swept into the Mountain Belly Grand Hall and couldn't help but cry out in shock. Before him were thousands of stone steps leading to an even higher hall within. On both sides of the steps were bottomless abysses, with faint sounds of flowing water. Above his head, resembling the vault of heaven, was a shimmering Glazed Light Curtain.
What made Luo Bei cry out in shock was no longer the overwhelming pressure of the grand hall, but the sky-like Glazed Light Curtain above!
On the Glazed Light Curtain, flowing colored lights and shadows moved.
Within the flowing light, Luo Bei saw many Strange Birds and Exotic Beasts he had never heard of. He also glimpsed people in different robes from various dynasties expounding scriptures and discussing the Dao, and countless others casting hand seals in combat. The spells released by those Strange Birds and Exotic Beasts and the battling figures, even just seen in the flowing light, seemed astonishing and world-shaking. On one side of the Glazed Light Curtain, images of scriptures and illustrations like the Mahākāla Secret Method flashed continuously.
"Do not look too much or remember too much. These are all things seen and heard by the successive ancestors of Luofu. But if you remember even a fraction, your danger in the world will increase by that much. When the opportunity comes in the future, you will naturally have another chance to see them."
Just as Luo Bei unconsciously looked up, Yuan Tianyi's voice reached his ears.
Though he didn't know the reason, since Yuan Tianyi said so, Luo Bei truly lowered his head and stopped looking at the dazzling lights and shadows that filled him with awe.
The thousands of stone steps passed in an instant. At the end of the steps, the hall that from afar seemed ready to soar into the sky had no ornate decorations, not even a single carved pattern. Yet its momentum was even more grand and profound. Stepping inside, the front and side walls of the hall were at least several tens of zhang away from him, and the square ceiling above was also several tens of zhang high!
Standing within, Luo Bei's mind trembled, feeling as insignificant as an ant.
Before the vast heavens and earth, anyone was as insignificant as an ant.
This grand hall was like heaven, like earth.
What kind of vision and spirit must the Luofu Ancestor who built such a hall within the mountain belly have had!
On the square ceiling, stars were scattered like a chessboard. Huge pearls arranged according to the positions of the sun, moon, and five elements cast a faint, clear light.
The hall was empty, except for lifelike statues standing all around. Each statue was ten zhang tall, exquisitely carved with no trace of chisel or axe. Every statue was completely different. Some wore strange armor and held bizarre artifacts; some had empty hands but rode oddly shaped monsters; some had thick brows and angry eyes, fierce in expression; others were kind-eyed and gentle, with peaceful looks. Luo Bei counted—there were fifteen in total.
"These fifteen are the statues of the successive ancestors of Luofu." Yuan Tianyi stood at the center of the hall and spoke slowly to Luo Bei.
Luo Bei's mind shook violently, tears filling his eyes. Although Yuan Tianyi had made it clear that day on the peak when he accepted him as a disciple that Luofu did not value worldly formalities, Luo Bei still knelt down involuntarily.
"Witnessed by the successive ancestors, Yuan Tianyi, Fifteenth Generation Disciple of Luofu, hereby formally transmits the scripture to Luo Bei." Yuan Tianyi looked at the fifteen massive statues, gently placed his palm on Luo Bei's head, and said calmly, "Teaching the Eternal Life Sutra of Delusion."
