Background / History

Luo Bei began as a young beggar who sought discipleship under Yuan Tianyi. Despite being warned that cultivation required immense suffering, he persisted through Luofu's entrance trial and became Yuan Tianyi's disciple. Yuan Tianyi's teachings gave him a path to control his own destiny, and Luo Bei regarded Luofu as his home. 5 16 82

After undergoing Rebirth and Metamorphosis, Luo Bei received the Eternal Life Sutra of Delusion from Yuan Tianyi and was sent into the world for training. He later cultivated at Shushan, where his slow progress in the Great Dao Direct Pointing Cui Xu Art earned him ridicule and menial assignments despite his exceptional innate aptitude. 15 55 56

Luo Bei's decision to protect Xiao Cha and Little Wu Qiu from Shushan's judgment led him to flee the sect. He deliberately drew pursuing disciples away from Xiao Cha, accepting the risk of capture so that she could escape. 85

Appearance

Luo Bei is a young man whom fellow Shushan disciples consider notably handsome. His appearance is often defined more by his restrained manner and powerful sword aura than by ornamentation. 33 234

  • Commonly wore a blue robe during his time at Shushan. 59
  • Wore a silver counterfeit Kubera Growth Mask that gave him a dignified, royal aura. 195
  • Was dressed in crimson brocade while imprisoned in Yun Hezi's manor, resembling a mortal nobleman's son rather than a cultivator. 226
  • His unleashed sword intent has been described as a tangible, smoke-like sharp aura. 253

Personality

Luo Bei is guided by Yuan Tianyi's principle of acting without self-interest while remaining true to one's heart. He treats even humble beings with dignity, chooses to sit beside the ostracized Lin Hang, and reflects seriously on whether his actions accord with his conscience. 28 33

He is exceptionally resilient. Public contempt over his seemingly poor cultivation does not break him; instead, he treats humiliation, labor, pain, and repeated setbacks as forms of tempering. 55 56 74

His strongest motivation is protecting the people important to him. He repeatedly risks his life for Xiao Cha, Old Zhao Nan, Cai Shu, and others, rejecting the idea that some lives should simply be sacrificed for a broader strategic gain. 85 102 341 345

Luo Bei can be ruthless against those he considers irredeemable enemies, killing Hong Yi and Lang Yesen after gaining the upper hand. Even then, he remains conscious of the lives lost because of him and the burden carried by those who protected him. 315 329

Abilities & Skills

Eternal Life Sutra of Delusion

Luofu's body-refining cultivation art, transmitted to Luo Bei by Yuan Tianyi. It strengthens his physique, accelerates recovery, and enables him to endure punishment that would kill ordinary cultivators. 15 104

  • At the fifth level, ordinary flying swords and spells struggle to harm his body. 104
  • His body can generate enough heat through Blood Essence circulation to dry soaked clothing almost immediately. 105
  • Its recovery properties allow him to survive Kuang Wuxin's Starfire and True Magnetic attack long enough to escape. 220
  • His powerful physique and recovery later let him replenish true essence rapidly in prolonged battles. 362 363

Sword Cultivation

Luo Bei's primary offensive path combines the Heaven Breaking Sword Art, Three Thousand Futu, true-essence sword qi, and eventually Natal Sword Essence. 84 127 228

  • Sword Control — Uses spiritual sense to direct a Flying Sword remotely and cut paths through terrain. 84 85
  • Sword Qi — Can form invisible or transparent sword qi directly from true essence and sword intent. 173 366
  • Natal Sword Essence — A single strike can wound experts such as Yun Hezi, though it was later shattered by Qi Lianliancheng. 229 281
  • Sword intent — His intent is unusually majestic even in his early sword training and later becomes a decisive source of pressure in battle. 83 253

Great Dao Direct Pointing Cui Xu Art

A cultivation technique Luo Bei practiced alongside the Eternal Life Sutra of Delusion. Cultivating both at once initially slowed his visible progress, but he refused to abandon either art. 55

  • Supports the stability of mind and true essence needed for Flying Sword control. 50 82
  • Its slow advancement led others to falsely consider Luo Bei unfit for cultivation. 56

Spells and Mental Arts

Luo Bei supplements sword cultivation with numerous Daoist techniques and mental arts.

  • Seven Orifices Heaven-Filling Great Law — One of his strongest spells, used when cornered against Gu Liuyun. 236
  • Jing Nian Tong Ming Jue — A Cihang Zhai art Luo Bei learns unusually quickly because of his sword intent, true essence, and ability to endure pain. 250 251
  • Empty Clarity Lotus — Reduces an opponent's spell power by twenty percent for half an incense stick. 253
  • Purple Heaven Thunder Light Escape — A high-speed escape method used against Qi Lianliancheng. 363

Corpse Refinement and Demonic Arts

Luo Bei commands powerful corpse-refined allies and studies the Great Black Heaven Demonic Art. 132 389

  • Refines Qu Daozi into a Corpse God General Spirit, retaining Qu Daozi's formidable combat value and magic treasures. 132 213
  • Controls a corpse god and the Seven Seas Demon King Beast as major forces in battle. 213
  • Creates a divine splitting body merged with the Blood Sarira; it can attack independently, seal enemies, and serve as an external-incarnation-like combat asset. 389 391
  • Continues to regard the split soul as dangerous until it is completely refined. 391
