Wang Longqi is the Seventh Young Master of Yuhang Town's wealthy Wang Family. The family trades in East Sea seafood and operates pharmacies, also purchasing medicinal herbs from Tiannan Province. 311

Despite his reputation as an idle rich youth, Wang Longqi studied for several years with Chen Zi'an. Their teacher considered him intelligent enough to attain scholarly fame if he applied himself; Wang Longqi claims he was expelled after attracting the teacher's daughter's affection. 42

His first known supernatural calamity began after he spent a night with the Ghost Bride, then awoke beside a desolate grave.
