Background / History

Lin Mo was born to Wei Xia and Lin Kaifeng. As a child, he strongly resembled Miao Liwu in appearance, mannerisms, speech, and even his habit of wiping his nose with his sleeve; He Yu concluded that he was Miao Liwu under a different name. His name was chosen in the hope that he would become as learned as his scholar father, though Lin Mo himself admitted that he was a slow learner academically. 48 49

Although Wei Xia wanted him to pursue scholarship rather than risk his life as a martial artist, Lin Mo desired to become a hero. After witnessing He Yu's overwhelming strength against Hall Master Zhang, he chose martial arts for himself. He Yu gave him the Thunderclap Spear Art, personally taught him the Ninefold Profound Art, and instructed him to pursue nine True Qi condensations in every realm. 49 50

Lin Mo's talent became immediately apparent: he grasped the Ninefold Profound Art's outline in a day, entered the martial path on his second day of practice, completed his first True Qi condensation on the fourth, and fully mastered the technique within seven days. Before leaving, He Yu supplied him with cultivation resources and had a silver spear forged for him. 50

He later founded the Heavenly Path Alliance, recruiting martial artists and merging smaller sects into its ranks. By the time its membership exceeded three hundred, He Yu warned him that its rapid growth and mixed membership could invite disaster. 59 68

In a later timeline, Lin Mo was brought into the orbit of the Myriad Dreams Palace before his birth and received extraordinary protection and resources. He directly perceived Spiritual Energy as a child, was recognized as exceptionally gifted, and became the Sect Master's first disciple. 136 141 173

Appearance

Lin Mo was a robust and energetic child whose features and habitual gestures closely mirrored Miao Liwu's. As an adult martial artist, he was described as tall and slender, typically carrying a spear. 48 94

  • Resembles Miao Liwu almost exactly in appearance and mannerisms. 48
  • Initially favors spears and was repeatedly equipped with spears by his master. 50 182 199
  • Briefly began using the Profound Night Sword under suspicious circumstances, prompting concern that something had changed him. 180

Personality

Lin Mo is earnest, excitable, respectful toward his elders, and exceptionally receptive to encouragement. He repeatedly takes He Yu's instructions at face value, treats him as a revered mentor, and works diligently on any task entrusted to him. 50 59 81 182

Despite his overwhelming talent, Lin Mo is often humble about his own abilities. After failing to find a Foundation Establishment spiritual object during two years of searching, he considered himself ordinary and needed reassurance from his master. 192

He can also display pride, especially when confronted with his exceptional potential. His master explicitly tested and corrected this tendency while assigning him the task of improving the Ninefold Profound Art. 148

Lin Mo possesses an unintentional talent called Genuine Pretension: he makes statements so naturally confident that they appear effortless rather than boastful. He regards realms as secondary to his purpose of helping his master reach the highest point. 214 215

Abilities & Skills

Exceptional Cultivation Talent

Lin Mo's cultivation speed consistently exceeds conventional standards, from mastering foundational methods in days to crossing major realms at an extraordinary pace. 50 75 86

  • Entered the martial path after two days of training. 50
  • Reached late Skin Refinement in one year. 53
  • Advanced from late to peak Dragon Transformation through indirect study of Earth Source Sword Qi. 81

  • Completed his first True Qi condensation on the fourth day of training. 50
  • Received the instruction to aim for all nine condensations in every realm. 50
  • Later used the principles of the Grand Dao of Dao to develop the Daoist Canon. 200

  • His combat ability allowed him to fight above his realm and reportedly kill an Apex Grandmaster while at peak Grandmaster. 79 87
  • Was entrusted with a powerful spear from the Great Qian imperial treasury. 182

Soaring Sky Gait

Lin Mo modified the Sky-Stepping Gait into the Soaring Sky Gait, dramatically improving its aerial speed. 59

  • Could launch into the air, circle an opponent at extreme speed, and land gracefully. 59
  • Further improved its speed to approach that of Supreme Grandmasters. 60
  • The technique's airborne duration remained its principal unresolved limitation. 60

Earth Source Insight

Lin Mo could gain meaningful insights merely by watching Earth Source Sword Qi demonstrated, eventually contributing observations his master had not considered. 81

  • His insights helped He Yu comprehend two additional strands of Earth Source Sword Qi. 81
  • Indirect comprehension of the Sword Qi pushed Lin Mo from late to peak Dragon Transformation. 81

Spiritual Energy and Spiritual Roots

Lin Mo can perceive Spiritual Energy directly and cultivate immortal methods through intuition even when unable to read every character in a text. 146 147 173

  • Initially manifested Spiritual Energy at his fingertip while studying the Jade Purity Purple Qi Formula. 146
  • Could sense Spiritual Energy gathered in his master's hand, leading others to mistake his perception for nonsense. 172 173
  • Initially tested as possessing an exceptionally strong Heaven Spiritual Root; its purple light then transformed into dazzling gold. 182

Dao of Dao and the Daoist Canon

After Foundation Establishment, Lin Mo formed the nascent Dao of Dao. 199

  • Created the Daoist Canon, a technique customized for each major realm to maximize an individual cultivator's advantages and potential. 200
  • The Daoist Canon enabled He Yu to reconstruct his cultivation rapidly after self-destruction. 200
  • Later imprinted his Grand Dao upon heaven and earth, receiving heaven's favor and advancing to early Nascent Soul. 214

  • Miao Liwu — Possible prior or alternate identity; He Yu identifies Lin Mo as Miao Liwu based on their identical appearance, behavior, and habits. 48
