The terrible explosion completely brought down the Capitol Building, but because George activated the Crystal Wall in time, everyone inside was protected.

So when the dust settled over the Capitol Building, not a single person had been harmed.

Of course, they had all been frightened badly.

In truth, George could have simply used the Crystal Wall to envelop Luthor's seat, containing the explosion within the chair.

That would have been far easier than using the Crystal Wall to protect every person in the entire building.

But the effect would have been much smaller that way.

He wanted everyone to witness this explosion and know that someone was plotting against Superman and him.

He wanted the councilors at the hearing to understand that without him and Superman, they would have long since been blown into countless pieces just like the Capitol Building.

"Ha ha ha, it worked!"

Watching the Capitol Building explode and collapse smoothly through the surveillance feed, Luthor broke into manic laughter.

"This world doesn't need God, doesn't need gods. If they exist, then I will kill them myself."

After this, everyone in the world would believe that Superman and his cat had killed the councilors in the Capitol Building.

They would recognize Superman's danger and stand against him.

Then, Luthor could make better use of that Black Knight in Gotham City to deal with Superman.

Over the years, he had been collecting information on all kinds of superhuman beings.

Not only the Black Knight who struck fear into Gotham City's criminals, nor merely the godlike Superman and his cat who had suddenly appeared.

There was also the woman who had lived from World War I to the present, the young man as fast as lightning, the mechanical life-form revived through alien technology, and the man in the sea.
