Background / History

Wang Li is a Profound Heaven Sect disciple who remained on the sect’s solitary peak with his senior sister, Lü Shenliang, after she was isolated there following her failed Golden Core tribulation. The peak’s other disciples were reassigned, leaving Wang Li as the only disciple who stayed. He repeatedly suppressed Lü Shenliang’s attempts to self-detonate her damaged Golden Core, an ability considered extraordinary for a Qi Refining cultivator. 10 12

His master, He Wanshi, died not long after Wang Li entered the sect. Wang Li associates his own name with continual separation: he lost his master and was subsequently left on the solitary peak, feeling abandoned by the wider sect. 16

Wang Li and Lü Shenliang regard themselves as the true continuation of the Profound Heaven Sect. The sect’s cultivators had been destroyed after defying orders in a campaign against the Chaos Lands; afterward, the surviving institution accepted a new place among the Seventy-two Immortal Sects. At Lü Shenliang’s instruction, Wang Li enters Old Ancestor Tong Hui’s active Nascent Soul tribulation zone, retrieves the damaged Yin Thunder Umbrella, and collects Fire Clam Mirror fragments. He refuses Huayang Sect demands to surrender the umbrella, while Lü Shenliang’s threat to self-detonate forces the dispute to end in their favor. 4 9 10 12

Wang Li and Lü Shenliang later turn the umbrella into a Purity Returning Spirit Pill and major financial gain through Blackwater Market dealings and a direct trade with mysterious black-clad cultivators. 13 14

Gray Dao Palace

During cultivation, Wang Li’s abnormal tribulations repeatedly force his consciousness to battle wounded gray-robed cultivators in his Dao Palace. After reaching the Sixth Level of Qi Refining, he discovers that his Dao Palace has become a physical structure within his Sea of Qi. 19 22

He later enters the palace voluntarily and discovers a gray Dao Hall containing five fire-streams full of gray-robed cultivators from different Qi Refining levels. He begins using them as renewable sparring opponents and a means to stabilize his realm. 29 30 31

Break with the Profound Heaven Sect

When Uncle-Master Hengyuan and Senior Brother Chen seek a share of the benefits from the Yin Thunder Umbrella, Wang Li refuses. He declares his Sixth Level cultivation and warns Chen not to return, choosing the solitary peak and Lü Shenliang over reconciliation with the sect. 24

Seven Treasures Ancient Domain Expedition

He Lingxiu hires Wang Li to guide a rescue mission connected to three members of the Scripture-Abandoning Dao-Departing Alliance. Wang Li negotiates a substantial advance payment and accepts further danger for an additional million spirit sand. 33 34 36
