The notifications appeared before his eyes. Lin Mo breathed a sigh of relief, then hurriedly checked on the two people in front of him.
Bern dragged his battered body over as well. Fortunately, with Miriam blocking the blow, that sword had failed to fall on Evan's head.
As for Miriam... because the White Oak Bow had absorbed some of the force, the sword ultimately lodged in her collarbone and went no deeper.
The injury was serious, but not fatal.
"Miriam!"
Evan came to his senses and immediately cried out. He hurriedly supported Miriam's body and asked anxiously, "Are you okay, Miriam?"
"I won't die..."
Miriam frowned tightly. Her pretty face was slightly twisted by the intense pain. She raised her head and looked Evan over, her gaze sweeping across several of his wounds before quickly withdrawing.
"Sit still. I'll treat your wound."
Bern crouched down and carefully pulled out the sword, then began disinfecting Miriam's wound.
After a simple cleaning, he applied medicine and finally wrapped it in bandages. For bottom-tier adventurers, no matter what kind of injury they suffered, this was basically the only treatment available.
"If only we had a Life Potion. For an injury like this, one bottle... no, about half a bottle would be enough to heal it."
Evan's words caught Lin Mo's attention. Miriam's injury was absolutely no minor wound. Were Life Potions really that miraculous?
Miriam rolled her eyes at him. "Using more than seven Gold Coins every time you get hurt is such a luxury. Do you think you're a professional?"
Half a bottle of Life Potion cost 7 Gold Coins and 50 Silver Coins. That was enough for bottom-tier adventurers like them to buy a fine weapon, and with a little extra money, even a set of Leather Armor.
To them, alchemical potions were undoubtedly luxuries they could not afford.
Even if they bought one, they would save it to preserve their lives at a critical moment, not use it on an injury that was neither too serious nor too minor.
Miriam was not the only one injured. The other three were wounded as well. Lin Mo's three or four cuts through the skin and flesh were already the lightest injuries among them.
After helping one another treat their wounds and resting by the trees for a while, everyone gradually regained their strength and stood up to clean up the battlefield.
There were six corpses in total. Four had basically been killed by Lin Mo alone, another had been dealt with by Miriam and Evan, and the last one, the captain, had been a joint effort.
Bern laid out the spoils he had found on the captain's body. There were 15 Gold Coins, along with a fairly good set of Iron Armor. It looked like it had been used for several years and was worth around 20 Gold Coins.
Besides that, there were some scattered Silver Coins and Copper Coins, as well as a heavy two-handed sword.
After checking, they confirmed that both the weapon and the Iron Armor were mass-produced goods from a forge, nothing special. They could use them without worry and did not need to fear being recognized.
"How about you take these Gold Coins and the two-handed sword, while we take this Iron Armor?"
Bern understood clearly that without Lin Mo, this Blood Sea Gang squad would never have been opponents they could handle. Not just this time—when they had been attacked before, they would have all died there.
He saw terrifying potential in Lin Mo and did not doubt in the slightest that he would become a professional someday.
The benefits of befriending such a powerful young man would surely far outweigh the small profit before them, so Bern had no intention of being greedy when dividing the spoils.
As for the other five people, they would naturally follow the rule they had agreed upon earlier: whoever killed them got their belongings.
Lin Mo considered it for a moment. The Iron Armor was actually of decent quality, but it was a little too heavy for him. The same went for the two-handed sword.
Lin Mo's current fighting style still relied heavily on his speed advantage. Light Leather Armor and a one-handed sword suited his needs better, so even if he took those two items, he would only sell them later. That would be both troublesome and unprofitable.
The two-handed sword was worth only around 3 Gold Coins. After thinking it over, Lin Mo simply said, "That sword is useless to me, so you can have it too. Evan can use it."
"Alright, thank you."
Bern did not refuse. He nodded and accepted it.
The Iron Armor on the Blood Sea Gang captain was a little better than Bern's. Bern changed into that set and gave his original armor to Evan.
Evan put on the Iron Armor and took up the captain's two-handed sword, grinning from ear to ear.
"You're a real brother. If you ever need anything in the future, just say the word. As long as I can help, I'll give it everything I've got!"
He patted Lin Mo on the shoulder, but the force of the movement pulled at his wound. He immediately grimaced in pain.
"Look at you. The moment you get smug, you lose all sense..."
Miriam teased him, drawing knowing smiles from everyone.
Lin Mo sorted through the spoils from the four people he had killed.
This group had likely received quite a lot of money after looting the merchant caravan. Each of them had at least 5 Gold Coins on them. The four together had 23 Gold Coins. Adding the 10 Gold Coins from yesterday's battle, he now had a full 33 Gold Coins on him!
Such an enormous sum would probably take ten or more ordinary missions to earn.
And there might be even more than that...
Lin Mo and Bern exchanged a glance. With perfect unspoken understanding, they stood up at the same time and headed toward several tents not far ahead.
They checked them one by one and searched inside as well, but unfortunately found nothing valuable.
When they reached the largest one, the captain's tent, Lin Mo pulled aside the flap and suddenly saw the girl in the corner.
Her hands and feet were tied, her eyes covered, and a rag stuffed into her mouth. She could not move.
Though she looked disheveled, her clothes were exquisitely made, and her complexion was still fairly rosy. It was clear that she usually lived well.
Bern entered right after him. When he saw the girl, excitement appeared on his face.
The two stepped forward together and pulled away the cloth from the girl's mouth and eyes.
Sensing someone approaching, the girl's body immediately began to tremble. Once she saw what they looked like, she froze for quite a while before cautiously asking, "You are...?"
She had heard the commotion earlier and knew that the people who had kidnapped her seemed to have been attacked, but she had not held out much hope.
The merchant caravan had hired two full teams, eight adventurers in total. Several were experienced veteran adventurers, and along with the dozen or so guards from the caravan, there had been more than twenty people altogether. All of them had been slaughtered.
Even if her father sent people to rescue her, they would probably only be throwing their lives away.
But now, it seemed those bandits had lost?
"We're adventurers who accepted a mission. Is your father the owner of the Yori Merchant Guild?"
When the girl in front of them nodded, Lin Mo and Bern cheered almost at the same time and high-fived in celebration.
Sure enough, the Yori Merchant Guild had been robbed by these Blood Sea Gang members!
When they looked at the girl again, their gazes had completely changed.
What beautiful young girl? She was clearly Walking 100 Gold Coins!
