Where had those Cat Demons they had run into on the road earlier come from?
After they opened the door before them, that question seemed to have its answer.
It also confirmed one of Lin Mo's guesses—the monsters in this maze were not confined to their own areas. They could leave their secret rooms and go out to hunt nearby, or even farther away.
Then that raised another question...
If a blue-gray door represented a Bronze-rank secret room, then among secret rooms of the same Bronze rank, this one contained one Tattooed Cat Demon plus a dozen or so... counting the ones they had killed on the road earlier, nearly twenty Common Cat Demons in total.
Yet the secret room they had just fought through had only contained one Minotaur. That was clearly not equivalent.
Lin Mo thought of the Bronze Treasure Chest that could not be opened, and the red mark on it that had not disappeared.
Was the difficulty simply set up this way, with differences in strength between rooms of the same level? Or was it...
The intense battle that had erupted so quickly had prevented Lin Mo from continuing that line of thought, but now, the sound from behind had already proven the possibility he had been most worried about.
The answer was that the room just now had not contained only one Minotaur, but two!
It was just that one of them had happened to go out, so after they killed the Minotaur in the secret room, the treasure chest had not unlocked.
And now, perhaps because it had discovered its companion's tragic death and chased after them, or perhaps through sheer coincidence, the other Minotaur had appeared behind them...
Bern did not have time to consider all that, but he understood the heavy, drumbeat-like
