A sharp sound tore through the air. In the distance, a Dragonmaw Orc standing watch clutched his throat and slowly collapsed.
Alleria frowned, without the slightest thrill at killing an enemy.
The Dragonmaw Clan had been acting strangely lately. No one knew what scheme they were plotting, but all their forces had withdrawn into Grim Batol, the abandoned dwarven fortress. At this moment, aside from the Sentries and scouts on the perimeter, the entire Dragonmaw Clan had entered this massive fortress-city carved into the mountain.
"Sis, should we go in and take a look? I have a feeling these Orcs are doing something shady."
Alleria thought for a moment, then nodded. She instructed the rangers to remain on guard outside the city and continue hunting any scouts and reconnaissance troops that emerged.
The two lightly leaped from the mountaintop and slid down through Grim Batol's gates. The interior was dimly lit, and the piles of rubble and collapsed houses made the place look exceptionally desolate. However, elven rangers had superb eyesight and could see very far even at night. Such dim light posed no problem for them.
The Dragonmaw Orcs appeared extremely busy, as though every one of them was occupied gathering some sort of material. Meanwhile, roars drifting out from the depths of Grim Batol from time to time only made Alleria more determined to investigate.
