Nature

Dou Qi is the central supernatural energy of the Dou Qi Continent. Cultivators absorb and refine energy from heaven and earth, circulate it through their meridians, and store it within the Dantian to increase their strength 10 16.

Its quality, quantity, and attribute determine much of a cultivator's combat power. Dou Qi can be refined into more concentrated forms as a cultivator advances, while special cultivation methods such as the Flame Mantra can alter its attribute and purity 16 22.

• Dou Qi may possess elemental or unusual attributes, including water, wind, fire, dark green, and blood 12 15 27 110.
• A cultivator's Dou Qi can be directly strengthened by medicinal pills, magical-beast flames, Heavenly Flames, and cultivation techniques 9 16 58.
• Source Qi is distinct from ordinary Dou Qi; it is a higher energy involved in reaching and sustaining the Dou Di realm 105 106 113.

Dou Qi is absorbed from the environment and refined through a cultivation technique. The refined energy gathers in the Dantian, where it supports a cultivator's realm and techniques 16 22.

• A full Dantian and condensed Dou Qi mark progress toward the next major realm 10 22.
• Breaking through a major realm expands the Dantian and raises the amount of Dou Qi it can contain 10.

Refinement and Enhancement

Medicinal resources can rapidly supplement or stabilize Dou Qi, but excessive use carries serious risks.

At higher levels, Dou Qi can be projected outside the body for defense.

Offensive Forms

Dou Qi can be condensed into weapons, seals, blades, flames, and other combat manifestations.

• Zhang Tian's water-attributed Dou Qi formed the Wave Splitting Seal, an attack capable of shattering a rock wall 12.
• Wind-attributed Dou Qi empowered the Phoenix Cry Longsword and its cutting sword Qi 12 16.

Weapon Empowerment

Dou Qi may be infused into weapons to increase their speed, force, or elemental properties.

• The Dragon Yin Halberd contains water-attributed Dou Qi and can amplify water-based seals 16 33.

Limitations

• Powerful Dou Techniques consume substantial amounts of Dou Qi; Zhang Tian could use only seven Wave Splitting Seals before exhausting his reserves as a Seven-Star Dou Wang 12.
• Greater techniques demand greater physical, spiritual, and Dou Qi reserves; the Quick Spear Technique requires the integration of essence, qi, and spirit 19.
• A cultivator's attribute, cultivation method, and realm affect how effectively they can refine energy or control specialized flames 15 76.
• Ordinary Dou Qi cultivation does not grant the same capabilities as Source Qi, which is required for certain Dou Di-level feats 105 106.
