After handing the role of proctor for the third exam to Hayate, Senya headed straight for Shizune's home.
After all, Senya couldn't think of anyone else suitable to serve as proctor for the second exam on such short notice. Kakashi, Might Guy, Asuma, and the others were all team instructors, and their own students would be taking the exam.
To avoid any suspicion of favoritism, it was better not to let them serve as proctors. Senya couldn't be bothered to keep searching for someone else, so he might as well let Shizune continue as proctor, just like in the original story.
Night had fallen, and moonlight draped the village in a silvery veil. Following the route he remembered, Senya arrived at Shizune's door.
When he noticed that the lights inside still weren't on, he climbed in through the window, switched on the lights, rummaged through the fridge for ingredients, and began cooking himself.
Only then did he realize that, all these years, Shizune had never eaten a meal he had personally cooked.
He glanced at the clock hanging in the living room.
"Seven o'clock? There's still enough time. No problem."
So he created two Shadow Clones to help out. One washed the vegetables, one chopped them, while the original body handled the cooking.
Meanwhile, Shizune had only just left Orochimaru's laboratory after finishing her final experiment of the day. Exhausted, she removed her rubber gloves and let out a long sigh.
"Ahh, I'm exhausted."
"I wonder what happened to Teacher Orochimaru yesterday. Why did so many new research projects suddenly pop up?"
"He never used to let me handle these experiments. He was always afraid I'd make a mistake."
"I should've known better than to show off and take on so many experiments..."
Shizune rolled her neck, flexed her wrists
