"Although your request is simple, I want to know Konoha's purpose in doing this."
"Could it be that you simply hope the civilians of Amegakure can live better lives?"
During the Second and Third Shinobi World Wars, the Land of Rain had been the center of the conflict. Years of warfare had left its people in misery.
She instinctively despised the villages of the Five Great Nations. Those villages fought only for their own interests. She could not easily believe that Senya's request was merely meant to make Amegakure better off.
It simply was not realistic. It was too false, like something out of a fairy tale.
Hikari, standing beside Senya, looked confused as she turned to Konan.
"Is there something wrong with letting the people of Amegakure live better lives?"
Hikari's question felt like a heavy blow to the depths of Konan's mind.
That was right. There was nothing wrong with it. Yet she still could not easily trust the promises of the Five Great Nations, because they were the ones responsible for the disasters the Land of Rain had suffered in the past.
Konan hesitantly forced out a few words.
