Background / History

Scholar was one of three Colonels—including Black Dog and Old Li—who openly supported Shen Qing when Shen Qing humiliated Sun Jin. Shen Qing regarded this willingness to act against the Commander’s nephew as proof of their loyalty. 1

He and Old Lei joined the Imperial Guards at nearly the same time and became close friends. After recognizing Liu Chengle’s distinctive black fan as the weapon that killed Old Lei, Scholar identified him for Shen Qing and personally took part in venting his anger on the captured killer. 5
