In truth, though, "caught" was not quite the right word—the other party had appeared openly before the castle guards, identified herself, and then cooperatively walked into the hall.
A tall woman in a black senior maid's uniform, with long black hair, was brought before Gawain. He was certain he had never seen her anywhere before, but he knew that anyone appearing before him at such a critical moment was no ordinary person—even if she looked like nothing more than a court maid.
"She suddenly appeared before the guards and said Rosetta Augustus had sent her to see you," Amber reported from the side. "It looked like she walked through the entire blockade..."
