A low hum echoed across the central testing platform. The series of neural devices and biomass circulation equipment connected to the platform were carrying out their "warm-up" procedures before official activation. The "Main Brain" at the center of the platform had already completed all inspection and adjustment procedures and was currently in a light dormant state, awaiting awakening.
Gawain withdrew his gaze from the Main Brain, a helpless smile on his face. "Books have preserved quite a few 'famous quotes' associated with me. Some are at least somewhat plausible, but for others, I honestly have no idea when they were pinned on me—this happens often enough. Nothing surprising about it."
Rebecca, however, pulled a long face, as if she had recalled something terribly sad. "But when I was little, I really worked hard to memorize those things. Aunt Heti went through several staffs because of it..."
Gawain: "..."
The most difficult part of memorizing her ancestor's famous sayings had apparently been Aunt Heti's staff. Outsiders would probably need a moment to process that!
"Ahem, look on the bright side. Learning more principles is never a bad thing," Gawain said after a brief pause, coughing twice to steer the conversation back on track. At the same time, he reached out and patted Rebecca's head to comfort her. Though she was no longer a child, habits formed over the past few years were not so easily changed. "I've read quite a few of those quotes. Whether they're genuine or not, most of them are sound in principle. That's why I never asked the education officials to 'debunk' those long-circulating sayings, nor did I demand that the academies remove them from their books. I only asked them to clear out the small number of passages that no longer fit the current era's context..."
