Amber poked her head out from behind Gawain's arm, blinking as she stared fixedly at the scene inside the cabin. At last, her gaze settled on the central pillar and the two unremarkable pink-and-white flowers growing there.

"The clues point to that answer," Gawain said quietly as he stepped into the cabin. It was low and cramped for his burly frame, yet even within such a tiny room, he could see that this had once been a warm and welcoming home. Whether it was the carefully crafted household utensils or the dried bouquet in the corner that had been reduced to little more than black remnants, everything seemed to let him imagine what this place had looked like when people still lived here.
