From the very beginning, Gawain had never trusted any form of shelter—whether it was a shelter network made up of numerous Sanctuary Cities, or the seemingly massive yet actually crowded and fragile Wasteland Shield, he trusted neither.
In his view, shelters of that scale sacrificed all "possibility" when disaster struck, leaving those under their protection in the predicament of being able to do nothing but wait for fate to descend.
But he would never condemn, much less scorn, the scholars and leaders who proposed shelter plans because he knew they had already hammered out the closest thing to a perfect solution within limited constraints. Every shelter plan was not meant for individual survival, but sought a way to let civilization endure. Their plans might have flaws, but their actions were beyond reproach.
In truth, Gawain had only been able to propose the Mother Star Barrier plan not because he possessed such extraordinary foresight, but simply because he had more information and a little more nerve—Typhon and the Silver Empire also knew about the Rune Stones left behind by the Sentinels, as well as their functions and the corresponding research projects, but they had never considered this direction. That was out of caution and an instinctive wariness toward what the Sentinels had left behind, something Gawain understood very well.
If he had not known more about the Navigators, he would not have set his sights on those Rune Stones either.
And besides, his "Mother Star Barrier" plan was not flawless. While directly utilizing the Rune Stones left by the Sentinels made raising a Planetary Shield seem much easier, the "Planetary Shield" was merely the foundational stage of the Mother Star Barrier. How to make that Energy Shield produce the effect of a Mind Unity Field was the most difficult part of
