Gawain curiously studied the silver-haired girl before him, whose appearance gave off an impression of "pallor." Though he had already heard descriptions of her in the reports, only upon seeing her in person did he truly understand what her almost-human, almost-inhuman sense of otherness was. She was composed of the purest black and white, with no other color whatsoever. This extreme monochrome even made the contours of her face seem somewhat blurred, and being watched by those colorless eyes would likely make most people's skin crawl.
That unnerving sense of otherness could even make one instinctively overlook the fact that the girl herself was actually quite delicate and pretty, as well as the friendly, gentle smile at the corners of her mouth.
But Gawain had seen much in his life. After his initial surprise and curiosity, his manner quickly settled. He knew her appearance was likely influenced by Night Lady, the "ruler of light and shadow," and as for her identity... it was obvious.
