Faced with the intelligence that had suddenly arrived from Typhon, Heti took a moment to grasp what it implied. After a brief period of thought, her eyes widened. "Could Rosetta be planning to...?"
"He saw the divine calamity as an opportunity," Gawain said slowly. "An opportunity to completely purge the entrenched forces and remnants of reform within his country, and reshape the ruling order. If I'm right, the temporary closure of Parliament and the state of emergency will be the prelude to a massive purge... and probably more than just a massive purge."
"A massive purge?" Heti could not hide her disbelief. "That's how he intends to deal with the divine calamity?"
"No. It only means he is confident he can deal with the divine calamity. It means the Obsidian Palace still holds control over Typhon, and Rosetta Augustus has a way to restore order from the chaos caused in the early stages of the divine calamity in a short time. Typhon's situation has not spiraled out of control, so the only thing that has is the God of War Church." Gawain shook his head. "It seems that no matter how this divine calamity ends, the God of War Church will not fare well."
Heti rapidly considered the implications for Typhon and Cecil, then could not help asking, "Doing this could cause even greater chaos in the short term. Alderan may become slow to react while dealing with this war—doesn't Rosetta Augustus worry about the war situation? Or does he think we'll obediently stand by and watch everything from the Winterwolf Fortress line?"
"If Rosetta moves quickly enough and has prepared thoroughly enough, the chaos this causes in Alderan will be far less than you imagine. It will only allow the Typhon Royal Family to complete its consolidation of every
