He Got Himself into Big Trouble

Webs of all sizes crisscrossed chaotically between the forest trees, turning this area into a small maze.

Within this maze, anyone running around in panic could crash into a web at any moment. Once caught in these highly adhesive webs, they would be completely stuck and unable to break free.

Then, the struggle would attract the Spider Demons lurking in the shadows. They would immediately inject dissolving venom into the prey stuck in the web, then wait until the prey's entire body had turned into a pulpy mess before calmly feeding on it.

Roy had observed these Spider Demons hunting before. He knew there were vast numbers of them. They were Gregarious Creatures; once Spider Demons appeared somewhere, there was likely to be a whole group of them nearby.

However, after observing them, Roy found that these Spider Demons were merely ordinary Demonic Creatures. Their Individual Intelligence was low, and their habits were quite fixed. Other than their sheer numbers, they were not difficult for Roy to deal with.

With his Colt Python in his right hand, Roy picked up a long branch from the ground with his left. When he reached a web, he pressed the branch against it and shook it hard, mimicking the effect of prey becoming entangled.

Before long, a millstone-sized Spider Demon silently emerged from a tree. Since it was called a Demonic Creature, its Body Size naturally dwarfed that of an ordinary spider. Its bizarre patterns and fuzz made it look hideous and ferocious. Its hooked limbs crawled over the trunk with rustling sounds, while its swollen abdomen and several pitch-black eyes on its forehead made it look Horrifying, even though Roy knew its eyesight was poor.

These Spider Demons were cunning. They judged the size of trapped prey through vibrations transmitted by the webs. Strong vibrations meant the prey was too large—not only hard to handle, but possibly capable of breaking free soon. In such cases, they would not show themselves. Weak vibrations, on the other hand, meant the prey was not very large and could only be slaughtered at their mercy if it could not escape the web.

The vibrations Roy created with a branch naturally could not compare to those of real prey caught in a web. Thus, although this Spider Demon had appeared, it seemed somewhat puzzled and did not immediately crawl onto the web.

But as long as it showed itself, that was enough. The moment it entered Roy's sight, he raised his Colt, took aim, and fired!

Bang! The Spider Demon's huge body made for an excellent target. Roy's shot struck it directly in the head, blasting a Large Hole through it. The Spider Demon Let Out a Burst of pained shrieks before falling headfirst from the tree.

However, it did not die immediately. Its entire body and limbs continued twitching violently. Roy walked over and stood before it, his tail rising behind him. In a lightning-fast motion, it pierced the bullet wound in the Spider Demon's head. After stirring twice, it mashed the Spider Demon's brain to pulp.

All of the Spider Demon's legs curled inward as it finally died. A tiny Soul Light Orb floated out of its body, and Roy grabbed it.

If the Soul Light Orb of the Four-Eyed Little Devil he had first killed had been the size of a Ping Pong Ball, then this Spider Demon's Soul Light Orb was only the size of a soybean—smaller even than those Roy had obtained from other Demonic Creatures.

Roy could not figure out why, but he stored the Soul Light Orb anyway.

After storing it, however, the System Interface described the soul as: Low-grade Soul Fragment (1)!

Not a soul, but a Soul Fragment? Roy was stunned. What did that mean?

No one could give him an answer. Carrying his doubts, he temporarily set the matter aside and headed toward another web.

Each web had only one Spider Demon guarding it, and these Spider Demons did not visit one another. Thus, once the guarding Spider Demon was dealt with, the web itself posed no threat. Roy had originally planned to burn the webs, but after thinking it over, he realized that these webs, once stripped of their Spider Demons, might help stop intruders approaching his cave. They could serve as Anti-theft Doors, so he left them in place.

As long as he cleared out all the Spider Demons, the webs they left behind would instead become Protective Barriers for his cave. That was probably the only contribution they could make to him.

With that thought in mind, Roy began clearing every web that entered his sight. He first lured out the Spider Demon by creating false vibrations, then shot it down. The entire process proved surprisingly easy.

Later, however, Roy realized this wasted too many bullets. So he searched around and found an Insectoid Demonic Creature that had just become trapped in a web.

This Insectoid Demonic Creature looked somewhat like a large beetle. But once it was caught, the Spider Demon guarding that web quickly appeared and crawled onto the web Without Hesitation.

At that moment, Roy, who had been waiting below, lashed out with his tail. The sharp Triangular Blade Tail pierced straight through the Spider Demon's head just before it could bite the Beetle Demonic Creature.

Modifying his body had been a wise choice. This Alien Tail displayed tremendous Killing Efficiency at that moment. It did not waste a single bullet, was economical, and environmentally friendly!

After killing the Spider Demon, Roy extended his tail and opened the Triangular Blade Tail, gently pinching the beetle and pulling it free from the web.

This Beetle Demonic Creature possessed little intelligence. Although Roy had helped it escape Danger to Life, it showed no gratitude whatsoever. While clamped in Roy's tail, it even opened its mouth and bit at his tail, behaving with extreme savagery.

But how could Roy's tail be something it could bite through? Giving it a cold look, Roy twisted it up with his tail, walked to another web, and flung it hard, sticking the beetle onto the web once more.

The beetle began struggling again, and soon, the Spider Demon guarding this web appeared...

Roy's Fishing Plan succeeded. Using the Beetle Demonic Creature as bait, Roy dealt with Dozens of Spider Demons in succession. Only after the beetle no longer had the strength to struggle on the web did Roy use his tail to sever and kill it, Gladly Accepting the tiny soul it provided.

As for the souls provided by the Spider Demons, without exception, they were all Soul Fragments...

In truth, this slaughter had yielded a pitifully small number of souls. Not only were they low in quality, but they were also tiny.

Just as Roy was feeling somewhat depressed about his gains, he suddenly noticed that something had blocked the light above him. At the same time, a massive shadow appeared on the ground.

Then a voice rang out. "Got you! You despicable Little Bug!!"

The voice was strange. It sounded like an odd accent to his ears, yet Roy could somehow understand the meaning it conveyed in his mind.

It was as though... the voice acted directly upon his soul!

Even stranger, as the voice rang out, a thought appeared in Roy's mind, and he instantly understood what was happening.

"Is this... Demonic Language!?"

Even as realization dawned on him, Roy reacted quickly. He Pushed Off the Ground hard with both Legs, then rolled away, escaping the area covered by the shadow!

Boom! The instant he rolled aside, the spot where he had been standing was attacked. A gigantic Black Shadow carrying incomparable Aura smashed directly into the ground.

Black dirt sprayed in every direction, and a crater was smashed into the ground. Roy rolled to his feet and only then managed to See Clearly what his attacker looked like.

It was an even larger... Spider Demon! But unlike the Spider Demons he had killed before, the one facing him now was a female Half-human Half-spider Spider Demon!

Below her waist was a massive spider abdomen, while her upper body was a naked Humanoid Body. Yet her skin was covered in Spider Fuzz, leaving no room for seductive thoughts. Several pairs of Compound Eyes covered her head, and Mandibles protruded from her mouth. Only the pair of curved Demon Horns atop her head revealed her demonic identity.

Together with the eight enormous limbs supporting her body from both sides, her entire form stood before Roy like a tank.

Looking at the Half-human Half-spider creature before him, Roy could not help drawing in a sharp breath. He knew he was in Big Trouble now!

Judging from her size, she was probably a demon that had already entered maturity. Her rank was at least Lower Top Tier. As for whether she had advanced into a Middle Demon, that was impossible to say...

Roy finally understood why all he had gained after killing the Spider Demons were Soul Fragments. The reason was simple: those Spider Demons were merely the clones of the demon before him! The Spider Demons lived in groups not because of their Biological Habit, but because they were tools the Spider Queen used to hunt!

As Roy continuously hunted the Spider Demons and collected those Soul Fragments, the disappearance of the fragments alerted the Spider Queen. She tracked down Roy's location and Came to Kill!
