Roy was not surprised by Sargeras's fall, because he had long been mentally prepared for it.

However, in order not to reveal that he had foreknowledge of this, he still asked with some surprise upon seeing Sargeras's demonic form, "Lord Sargeras, what happened to you?"

Sargeras did not hide it from him and said directly, "I needed an army, so I shattered the Mardum prison. But that damned plane held too many Twisting Nether demons. Their activity had caused the prison to accumulate an enormous amount of Fel energy. When the prison exploded, I was struck by that Fel energy as well..."

So that was it. Roy came to a sudden realization. He had initially thought that Sargeras had voluntarily fallen and become a demon, but after hearing this explanation, he realized that Sargeras's demonic form was also related to Fel energy.

The dragon slayer would eventually become the dragon. The saying truly fit Sargeras. Perhaps even Sargeras himself had never imagined that one day, he, who had devoted himself to hunting demons, would become one.

However, there was one thing Roy might not have known: Sargeras's choice to become a demon was actually somewhat related to him.

After Fel energy corrupted a living being, it produced a warping effect that transformed normal creatures toward mutation. This was how most Twisting Nether demons came to be. But Sargeras had fought Twisting Nether demons for so many years—how could he not have understood Fel corruption? With his power, if he had wished to resist the warping, he could certainly have resisted it completely. Yet after being contaminated by Fel energy, Sargeras had abandoned that resistance and instead embraced the warping, ultimately becoming the demon he was now.
