Monster Riot

Xia Zhi and the others quietly lay in wait in a nearby alley. A half-collapsed wall concealed the four members of the Golden Spear Squad.

"That Three-tailed Tiger Cat is up ahead." Through a gap in the ruined wall, Xu Kui spotted more than a dozen Tiger Cats still wandering the street outside.

"Remember, everyone, we finish this quickly."

After observing the situation, Qin Feng instructed the team, "Yanzi, don't fire unless it's an emergency."

"I'll handle the Three-tailed Tiger Cat. Xia Zhi, Xu Kui, you two kill the remaining sixteen ordinary Tiger Cats as fast as possible."

"Understood." Xia Zhi and the others nodded.

"Move."

Whoosh—

The four figures dashed out almost simultaneously, turning into four afterimages as they charged toward the Tiger Cats.

Liu Yan held a machine gun in her left hand and the Tiger Fang Military Saber in her right as she followed behind the three men.

"Roar—" The leader of the Tiger Cat pack, the Three-tailed Tiger Cat, saw the humans and immediately bristled all over before letting out an enraged roar.

The sixteen Tiger Cat monsters around it also screeched as they pounced toward the humans.

Watching two Tiger Cats leap at him, Xia Zhi shifted his steps to evade them. He ducked and shot beneath the two monsters, the Blood Shadow Battle Saber in his hand tracing a cold arc of light as he slashed upward at their throats!

The leaping Tiger Cats had no time to react. Their heads flew off in an instant!

Blood sprayed wildly as the corpses of the two calf-sized Tiger Cats crashed to the ground, cracking the concrete beneath them.

"Watch out!" Liu Yan cried out from behind.

The Three-tailed Tiger Cat had actually evaded Qin Feng's twin spear thrusts. Its three whip-like tails struck him, and at the critical moment, Qin Feng raised his twin spears before his chest to block the blow. Even so, the immense force sent him flying.

"Roar—" Having sent Qin Feng flying with its tail, the Three-tailed Tiger Cat saw Xia Zhi instantly kill two of its underlings. It roared and pounced at him, arriving before him almost in the blink of an eye.

"Damn, it's so fast!" Xia Zhi jumped in fright. His Mental Power acted upon the shield in his left hand, and he immediately used it as leverage in midair to shift sideways.

"Damn it, that was close!" The Three-tailed Tiger Cat's claws nearly brushed past his body.

"Careful! This beast is on the verge of breaking through. It's almost at the High-level Beast General level!" Qin Feng shouted a warning from afar after finally catching his breath.

"Slash!"

After the Three-tailed Tiger Cat missed its pounce, Xia Zhi saw its three exposed tails and casually swung his blade! The edge struck the middle tail.

The sharp Blood Shadow Battle Saber could even cut through the defenses of Lord-level monsters. The nearly two-meter-long tail was severed instantly, and the excruciating pain made the Tiger Cat let out a frenzied scream.

"Nice one!" Xu Kui praised from the side.

The Tiger Cat, now with only two tails remaining, landed and raked two holes into the concrete with its claws from the pain. Its scarlet eyes fixed fiercely on the human who had cut off its tail.

"You beast!!!"

Having nearly allowed a teammate to be injured through his own carelessness, Qin Feng charged in from the side. His short spears traced mysterious paths as they stabbed toward the Tiger Cat's vital points.

Yet the Three-tailed Tiger Cat had eyes only for Xia Zhi. Roaring, it rammed toward him like a tank!

Seeing the Tiger Cat charge at him, Xia Zhi swung the Hexagonal Shield on his left arm and smashed it down hard.

Bang—

The shield collided with the claws. The Three-tailed Tiger Cat staggered, its lunging body halting abruptly.

At the instant of impact, Xia Zhi redirected the force into the concrete beneath his feet. His feet, clad in Alloy Battle Boots, stomped two holes directly into the ground.

His body, strengthened by the Supreme Body Refining Art, was far more powerful than that of ordinary martial artists. The tremendous impact merely made Xia Zhi grunt; he was not injured.

Astonished that Xia Zhi could contend with the Three-tailed Tiger Cat through physical strength alone, Qin Feng swiftly rushed behind the Tiger Cat and smashed his twin spears toward its spine.

The Three-tailed Tiger Cat's remaining two tails whipped out, leaving two afterimages as they lashed at the approaching Qin Feng.

"I've been waiting for this." Qin Feng shouted. His left short spear blocked the tail strike, while his right short spear changed from a downward smash into a thrust, piercing directly into the still-bleeding wound where the middle tail had been cut off.

"Awoo—" A cry of pain far louder than its previous roar erupted from the Three-tailed Tiger Cat's mouth. Its massive body twisted, and its gaping jaws snapped toward Qin Feng's right hand.

Pfft—

As the Three-tailed Tiger Cat opened its mouth and turned its head, Qin Feng's left short spear flashed into its mouth like lightning, the spearhead piercing through its brain.

White brain matter mixed with bright red blood flowed down the spear shaft. The Three-tailed Tiger Cat's widened eyes remained fixed on the human before it, but it could no longer make another sound.

"Haha, beautiful, Captain." Xu Kui and Liu Yan had slaughtered the remaining fourteen Tiger Cats, and the blood spilled by the Tiger Cats stained the empty street red.

Pulling out his short spears, Qin Feng swept his gaze around and said, "Hurry up and collect the materials. The smell of blood is too strong here. Monsters will be drawn over soon."

Then he praised Xia Zhi, "You did well."

Qin Feng had been sent flying by the Three-tailed Tiger Cat due to his carelessness. If Xia Zhi had not held it back,

then once the Tiger Cat set its sights on Liu Yan or Xu Kui, coupled with the surrounding ordinary Tiger Cats attacking together, the situation would have become critical.

Just as the four members of the Golden Spear Squad were in high spirits and preparing to dissect the corpses for materials, an earth-shaking monster roar suddenly came from afar.

Roar—

Then came the thunderous sound of buildings collapsing in succession.

Though they did not know how far away it was, some of the dilapidated buildings on both sides of the street where Xia Zhi and the others stood were directly shaken down by the tremendous noise.

"This is bad, run!"

Captain Qin Feng's expression changed instantly. Rising to his feet, he told the others, "Forget the materials."

"Yanzi, if a monster pack charges at us later, don't worry about anything else. Use the machine gun to clear a path."

"Captain, you mean..." Xu Kui asked.

"That sound is too loud. It could easily trigger a monster tide in the city." Liu Yan's face also changed, and her voice turned shrill.

"Run!"

At that moment, Xia Zhi heard a rumbling sound from afar, like a mountain flood rushing toward them.

A massive number of Ironhair Bulls appeared on the street ahead. Each one was enormous, and hundreds of them thundered forward together, making it feel increasingly like an earthquake.

The Golden Spear Squad was horrified. Just as they were about to change direction, violent tremors came from behind them as well.

An even more staggering number of monsters charged toward them. The pack contained not only Unicorn Wild Boars, but even more Lion Mastiff Dogs. The monster packs before and behind them totaled well over a thousand monsters.

"We're in deep trouble."

Everyone in the Golden Spear Squad turned pale!

"Over the wall, into the alley!" Qin Feng ordered.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The four raced toward the alley they had come through at top speed.

The monster packs, startled by the aftermath of the fierce battle in the distance, discovered that the monsters approaching from ahead were also fleeing in panic.

The leading monsters instantly changed direction, and the monster packs surged into the alley after the fleeing Golden Spear Squad.

"Rumble—" The Ironhide Bulls lowered their heads, their sharp horns smashing into the walls and buildings blocking their way.

The buildings, weathered by wind and sun for decades, collapsed almost instantly.

More than a thousand densely packed monsters charged over.

The Golden Spear Squad looked back, their faces changing drastically as they quickened their pace.

Just as they were about to rush out of the alley, several hundred more monsters appeared ahead. Led by several Beast General-level leaders, they charged toward them.

"Damn it, what the hell caused such a huge disturbance and set off the monster packs?"

As he fled, Captain Qin Feng shouted with bloodshot eyes, "This time, we're nine parts dead and one part alive."

"Fight for our lives and break through first! If we make it out, split up and run. If even one of us survives, that's enough!"
