There was no sunlight in Metropolis today. Gray clouds blanketed the city, drizzling a fine rain from above. The skyscrapers were silently soaked, and every inch of air carried the dampness of the city.

But the rain failed to stop the impassioned crowd. People gathered in the middle of Metropolis Plaza beneath umbrellas, a sea of colorful canopies spread out like a flower-filled field from above. Just over a month ago, the citizens of Metropolis had gathered in this very plaza to cheer Superman-Neo's arrival. This time, the subject was Superman once again.

The debate over Superman's controversial changes reached its peak on Tuesday. The arguments within Metropolis, Superman's birthplace, were especially fierce, and finally evolved into a public debate today. The most outspoken supporters and opponents of Superman's current actions had been chosen to represent their respective sides. Both sides formed teams of more than a dozen people, prepared for a heated argument over Superman.

The debate had been scheduled for nine in the morning, but before eight, the plaza was already packed with emotional citizens. Before the event had even officially begun, the attendees had split into two camps and started arguing fiercely. Many held signs bearing slogans of opposition, while just as many raised their voices in support of Superman. The dispute grew increasingly intense, and the atmosphere had already reached a boiling point before the nine o'clock bell rang.

At eight fifty, the representatives from both sides took the stage and were briefly introduced by the host. The vast plaza finally fell into a short-lived silence, giving the host a chance to deliver the opening remarks.
