Upgrades Underway

"The following people whose names are called, step forward..."

Today was a day to receive glory, but not everyone was worthy of it. After finishing her speech, Stephanie took out a short list and selected twenty people from among the five hundred.

"Bless them. They will be the first among you to undergo ascension."

The twenty included both men and women. All were high-spirited, standing in two neat rows before the crowd, unable to hide their pride and excitement.

They would be the pioneers of the ascension ceremony. What an honor that was! What they were about to do would completely change Hydra's history. It could be said that they had spent their entire lives yearning for this glorious moment!

"Looks like the first batch of test subjects has been selected." Evenson stared at the monitor and gave a sinister smile, then asked Peggy Carter curiously, "Seriously, how did you choose them?"

To outsiders, the criteria for selecting the first batch would surely be excellent physical fitness, outstanding training results, and so on. But Evenson knew those standards were meaningless here. First of all, these people had all been carefully selected by Hydra, so their physical condition was already good. Even if there were slight differences between them, those would be made up for after the modifications.

And their training results... honestly, although Peggy Carter's training had pushed them close to their limits lately, it could only be considered a warm-up. There was little point in judging them by those results.

Peggy Carter casually pulled out two dice and shook them in her hand. "I rolled for them."

"Mm..." Evenson raised an eyebrow. "That really is random."

"Isn't that a good thing? A choice with no pattern makes it harder for them to figure out our methods." Peggy Carter smiled
